How to join ATC?

Postby smeely » Thu Feb 23, 2012 4:57 am

Is there anyway of 'joining the ATC forces' in FS2004? What about during an internet game. What addon will allow me to direct other aircraft?
You never know what other places/countries are like untill you travel there. More people should get out of their home contries, just so they can understand/know more of/about the world

Online, you should be able to do something like that with FSX, but I'm not so sure. Let's wait for someone else's point of view.

Offline, there are ATC simulators out there (among which an Android game that on first sight seems so simple, a baby could master it... while being incredibly frustrating instead once you start getting serious amount of traffic) where you can be a controller, but they are a self contained game and not based on FS nor other known (by me) flight simulators.

Always online, you could always join forces with either IVAO or VATSIM, so you would be controlling traffic of every sim capable of going online on the chosen system, only being a controller of those online societies is QUITE another thing than trying to ape those idiots in the default tower under FS.

Real life ATC is different than the half a$$ed attempt at ATC made by M$. Rules are different. Terminology is different. All kind of things are different and a VATSIM or IVAO controller MUST adhere to REAL LIFE rules, not M$'s. If you want, try asking there, but expect some kind of preliminary test you'll have to study for, before being given clearance to control air traffic. :)

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.
