reverse thrust

Postby fscory » Thu Jun 02, 2011 2:57 pm

On several aircraft with turbo-props I would like to have a short cut to reverse engines to help stop sooner.  Is there any set of keys I could use to enable reverse thrusters?  In one case in the cockpit I can bring the mouse to the throttles and back it down.. but that is most cumbersome.  tks. :-/

The standard keyboard sequence:

Press F1 (cuts throttle) and then hold down or repeatedly tap F2 to reverse thrust.

F1 to disengage reverse thrust and bring throttle back to 0.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Prop planes, even turboprops, unless appropriately coded, do not have reverse thrust under FS, even if its real life counterpart do. What plane are you using?

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

I appreciate the two responses.  I will try the F1 key sequence.  Presently, I am using the simshed C-130.  Later, I will load the OV-10 turboprop.

Agree with both Strategic Retreat and dave3cu, fscory. Unless you're landing on a very short runway, and provided that you flare correctly, reverse thrust isn't necessary on props and quite often is not needed on jets either.

A couple of landing 'tutes' I posted years ago may help:-
