DVD version/product key

Postby MadWings » Sat Feb 26, 2011 11:34 am

(First off: I'M NOT ASKING FOR A PRODUCT KEY!)

Time for some flying again!
FSX is nice, but I want to get a retail copy of good old FS 2004 too, so I checked eBay and started wondering:

- Is there a DVD version of FS9? Or is the 4 CD package the only release available?

- Where is the product key? On the disc(s), on the box/cover or on the booklet/manual? Cause not everyone at ebay include a case or booklet in their sale.

Could someone take a look at their retail box and enlighten me?

Thanks a lot,

madwings

The 4 CD version is all I have ever seen.

There is no product key - you just have to keep Disk 4 in your CD tray as that is what FS2004 checks to see if you have a legitimate copy.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot, Opa, it does help! I've also got some news on the matter myself (and therefore slightly changed the thread title so it's more suitable for future reference).

Apparently, there actually DOES exist a DVD version of FS2004, legal and from Microsoft, but it appears to be an OEM release not intedted for retail sales. According to a German seller on eBay, these DVDs were included with a Medion laptop (Medion is a German consumer electronics company). The also have a license card (photo #2) or tracking ID. If you watch photos #1 and #2 closely, you can see the welding foil bag around the case is still unopened.

Another mystery solved. ;D

and no doubt that if you try to buy and, and do get it shipped to you.... when you install it, everything will be in GERMAN being that it is from a German computer company.
