Rudder problem

Postby patchz » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:19 pm

[color=#000000]I am unsure if this is a FS issue, hardware (Saitek X52 Pro issue, Windows 7 issue, or something else, so if it needs to be moved, by all means.

A puzzler... but it's always worth it to try the simplest thing: delete the FS9 CFG file. I've found that works for strange control-surface issues, sometimes.
You probably tried that already, so the next thing would be to uninstall any software for your stick, and start over with that. A pain, but not as bad as doing the same with FS9!

Hi patchz,

It sounds like it's not working as a proportional control, I can't remember without checking if joystick axis have a repeat function like the buttons do.

Can the X52 rudder switch modes? ie proportional or ON/OFF

Check your config for the joystick, reversed fucntion like you may do for heli use? so the slightest movement of rudder is giving you full rudder, have you tried turning the rudder to full deflection to see if it gives you either little rudder movemen or none at all?

Backup your fs9.cfg file somewhere, even simply rename it, restart fs9 and the fs9.cfg will be rebuilt but you will have lost your button config within fs9 but axis maybe back to default.

I do have a utility for checking joystick outside of the control panel/game controller setup if you'd like it, it was from Logitech

regards
Steve

For some reason, when I first got mine, it was doing something like that.

[color=#000000]No, have not tried deletion of the FS9.cfg yet. I am so sick of reprogramming stuff right now, I want to wait until that is the last option. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the stick software, twice. And since the last time, the reprogrammed profile does not work. Hence the sick of reprogramming statement. I have reduced sensitivity to zero. Right now, I can't even remember what all I have tried. I think I need to take a break from it.

So far, I am unable to find anything that would allow me to change the proportional control of the stick. It worked before, but something has changed and I can't figure out what caused the change.

Two possibilities I could offer.
My Saitec stick needs to to be turned on in the menu at the bottom of the screen and switch to the profile you set up for fs9. ( I have 4 different profiles for sims. )
Unplug it and retry, if its USB, try a different port.. ?  :)

just a thought, do you think that rolling back the SST Software would help the issue?  I have the X52 (non pro) (winxp), but I have 2 O.E.M. disks, and a copy that I made of the O.E.M.    1 OEM came with my X52, the other I ordered as a replacement because i lost the original (then i found it).

I could try to figure out a way to package the info, email it, you burn it to a disk then install it ... that is if you would like.

OR, i could just get a bubble mailer envelope and 'snail mail' it to you.   Your choice if you cant think of anything else.

I think it may be a problem with the hardware. For the time being, I am flying with autorudder on.

I hesitate to suggest this but I suppose you've checked the connections?

;D Don't feel bad about the suggestion, you never know. But it was one of the first things I checked.

I had to suggest it. Simply unplugging & reconnecting hardware has been known to do the trick. You might be surprised at how many people look for complex solutions & overlook the simple things. ;)

Hi patchz,

I'll get that utility to you somehow, it looks at the raw data from the joystick and what the registry is 'seeing' for your joystick values.

You can also use the utilty to modify the joystick response curve, rather than linear response you can change it to exponential curve if you want to.

It maybe Friday before I can message You about it.
