Lesson 3.abl fix

Postby Kreeft62 » Wed Dec 16, 2009 7:39 am

Hello,

I try to fly the lesson 3 Instument pilot. (holding patterns)
At the end of the lesson Rod gifs free practice time.
After the first free practice turn he always ends te lesson becaus off student error. (..."the lesson is noth going well"...etc)
Is there a fix on the .abl file?
Or are there people who can cope with the abl sdk?

Thx
Rudi

Hi Rudi,

Having done the instrument rides in fs2002 I went straight for the test, I'll try and check tonight Wed 16th if I get same problem.

You'll love it when you get to the check ride itself because of .abl bugs/ differences to the charts., I believe you can edit some out but maybe not all of them

So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs.

Hi Rudi,

The failure in the lesson 3 appears to me to be a lack of timer on the last instructor guided outbound leg, it's normally 1 minute outbound then 360 radial inbound, but in the last section there isn't a timer running, so when you try and turn to 360 because you've done your 60 sec outbound, the instructor says turn back to 180, you don't do so he gives you that message about 'it's not going well etc'
I haven't used the sdk kit for the lesson abl files - yet, I may not be able to sort it out, for the moment just set a flight up in that area and use the KPEA VOR on 110.6 and keep flying the holding pattern race track till your fed up with it, it will be worth you reading the check ride and on your final outbound leg climb to 5000' and 110 knts I think it is, it might be worth you heading for the VOR to the west of FACTS and then turn back to this VOR on a 66 deg heading, check the charts for the check ride and find FACTS.

FACTS is on the VOR approach to KPEA, practise the VOR approach, fly a missed approach and go to the holding pattern.

There is a bug in the checkride.abl regarding the heading to the VOR which disagrees with the headings I have for the VOR. There is a hint about this in the FS2004 Instrument checkride guide and I think part of the problem is the difference between the headings for VOR and ILS approach.

regards
Steve.

OK thank you Steve.

For the checkride i have read the pdf file from Simviation.
"Inside the checkride".
It describes how to silence the examiner for a practice run.
I try that on this abl.

Happy holiday's

Hi Rudi,

Just to give you some info on the checkride problem.
'She' the examiner wants you to fly to facts then onto KPEA Vor on 339 deg, my charts show this to be 341 deg.
If you use map and position your plane over FACTS then select radial for direct to KPEA VOR your on 341 deg not 339.

The guide does mention this has a 'future' change.
