Postby trollhattan » Sun Nov 15, 2009 7:53 am

Is ATC directing you to land runway 19?  Have you tried requesting a different approach?

No ATC is directing me to Runway 01, if i choose to request something else i just get Visual Runway 01, Visual Runway 19 . No ILS...

Does this happen regardless of weather conditions?

If the weather was manually set, to where the approach had to be ILS at 19, does the ATC still only give visual ?

If you are being directed to land runway 1, then they won't give you the ILS to 19.  The ILS is one way, only for landing on 19.  That is why you are receiving the visual.  If you want to land on 19, and use the ILS, the winds will have to be out of the south so that runway is active.

Just fixed it with "ILS_GPS_Approach_Creator" , and i just made my first ILS landing at the airport :D

Now to another question, IRL the airport doesnt have taxiways, so in the game you taxi on the runway to the end of it and then you turn around the aircraft and then take-off.

BUT, the end of the runway isnt big enough to turn around a b738. IRL i looks something like this:

Bad picture i know, but i hope you get it. Can i insert something like that to the airport ?

It would depend upon how the airport scenery was designed.

If it uses the traditional AFCAD to create the runways and taxiways etc. then yes, you can edit the afcad using the free AFCAD utility by Lee Swordy.

If however the runways and taxiways etc. are actually a part of the scenery itself (common with older design programs), then you will not be able to change what you see - at least nothing added to the afcad will display.

It might be possible to use some other program and create an "object" which would look like the apron and be of a useable size and then add it, but that would be a long shot I believe.

Hi trollhattan, welcome to FS and Simv.

About runways with ILS in only one direction, you can still use ILS going the 'wrong' way. Just line the ILS up on the 'normal' bearing (in this case 190 degrees, even though you're actually landing on a vector of 10 degrees) - then press 'REV' (for 'reverse) on the autopilot panel instead of 'APP'; and the A/P will line you up.

The only snag is that the A/P won't handle the height for you - but approach at say 2,500 feet above runway height, set the descent rate at say 500 feet/minute from say ten miles out, and you won't go far wrong. Then 'fine-tune' the descent rate setting closer in if your eye tells you that you're getting too high or too low. If in doubt, keep her a bit high rather than risk getting too low; with a long runway that doesn't matter much, you can easily bleed off any extra height before flaring just by 'landing a bit long.'

About turning at the end of the runway, why not just turn round on the grass? You couldn't get away with it in a 737 in real life, but you'll probably be OK in the Sim.
