The downloadable terrain mesh here

Postby jrbirdman » Sat Sep 26, 2009 3:45 am

Is it a good addition?? How does it look? Is it worth the time? Can I please see some screenshots of it or more info before I download it?

I would suggest picking an area that you are very familiar with, and note how the scenery looks...
..than just install the particular mesh for that same area and note the difference...;)...!

You don't have to install the mesh for the whole World!...
...just pick the areas you are particularly interested in!

(Have a peek at the Map to find the File that you need).

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...and FS Global Mesh... 8-)...!

i have the FSD Mesh. I mainly got it cause I want to start more bush flying and wanted a better Amazon Rain Forest, and a few other parts of the world.  From what I have seen so far it is pretty good.

like Foz said, after you download it, look at the map to find a general area or a "line" that you are going to be traveling, then only download/install the corresponding area files.  No need to install the whole world like FSGlobal 2008.

...another little tip:
To exaggerate the Mesh elevations slightly, ie; make mountains more "peakier", and rivers and streams "deeper"; in the fs9.cfg file, change the following number under...>>>

[Terrain]

TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19 ......change it to 20, or even 21...;)...!

Paul...G-BPLF..FS 2004.

I purchased "FS Global SE" to save me having to download and install all of the Sim V Terrain mesh to cover the whole World!..;)..!

Does the new mesh have any impact on frame rates?
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. But why take the risk?

My Nurse wears black, 15 Denier Mesh...

..and has a disturbing effect on my Heart Rate, Zaph!.... :o...!

Paul... ;D...!

P.S. My FS Global SE Scenery Mesh has no noticeable effects on my Frame Rate...I don't think the Sim V Mesh does, either..;)..!

SimV mesh areas (19, 25, 44, & 45) Amazon River Basin - have no noticable downfall of FPS.

I've installed the entire world mesh from here, and will never fly FS9 without it installed again.

I notice no impact on my modest system with it, and all settings maxed.

Unless you like to fly at random locations a lot, it is a good idea to just get the ones for where you fly, they are extremely easy to install, so getting the ones you want right before a flight isn't much of a hassle, and the results are worth it.
