F-16 (Kirk) panel does not show correctly

Postby Lordluud2 » Fri Sep 18, 2009 4:58 pm

I know what you think; another nutter that isn't able to install something correctly. And right you are.

I downloaded the F-16 Viper and Eric Marciano's virtual panel, but the big question is: I says i have to use the PANEL.cfg. I just do not know where to put it, so I put it in several places

If I remember correctly you install the Eric Marciano panel. Then paste the original Panel.cfg included with the F-16 into the new Panel folder overwriting the one that's in there.

If this doesn't work I'll have to reinstall it myself to check it out.

where exactly? I pasted it in gauges, in the VIPER file etc. But it doesn't work.

Could you perhaps give some more detailed information? I must have done something wrong  >:(

I installed this aircraft a long time ago but no longer have it. To do this properly I will need to install it again. It will help if you tell me which version of the Viper you have & the number of the page the file is posted on.

It should get easier once you understand the basics. I now have the Viper & the panel. Everyone has their own way of doing things. This is the way I would do it.

First, install the Viper. When you extract USVIPER.zip you should see 3 folders named Effects, Gauges & VIPER.
To install the F-16 paste the complete VIPER folder into FS9\Aircraft.
Open the Effects folder & paste the 15 files it contains into FS9\Effects.
To install the gauges open the Gauges folder & paste the contents, 1 x folder named keffect & 1 x file named viper_HUD_ADI.GAU into FS9\Gauges.

The F-16 should now work in FS9 but the cockpit view will be black.

Now for the panel. When installing a new panel I always back up the original first in case of mistakes. I suggest renaming the Panel folder of the VIPER to Panel.0

When you extract fullf16pnl.zip you should see a folder named panel_f16 & a zipfile named Gauges.zip.
The panel_f16 folder contains another folder named Panel. Paste this Panel folder into the VIPER main folder alongside the renamed Panel.0 folder.
Open the Panel.0 folder & copy the Panel.cfg file. Paste it into the Panel folder overwriting files when prompted.

Finally extract Gauges.zip & paste the 48 files it contains into FS9\Gauges.

With a bit of luck & a following wind all should work as advertised. Please tell me you understand all that.

Yes, very well explained. I am sure it will work. I just have to re-install the game and download all the files.

I am having so many problems with my computer and I just do not know how to fix it :(

When I install FS9 and download freeware airplanes and stuff, I have to do system recovery since internet doesnt work and errors keep popping up and FS9 just doesnt work anymore.

And it's getting slower by the minute  :'(

Have you scanned for viruses lately?

From your description, it sounds as if your system is in serious trouble !!
