FS9 Installation Help

Postby Matthew Montgomery » Sun Sep 06, 2009 11:18 pm

When Im installing FS9 because FSX is horrid! The installation process goes to 95% and then holds and then this box pops up and it says "Cannot Create world.cab" Anyone know what may be causing this? I am running Windows Vista x32bit! Thanks in advance!

Check your FS9 CD for dirt & scratches. Clean it carefully if necessary. Also shut down anti-virus software before running the install. Don't forget to do this again if your PC is automatically restarted during the install process.

Please tell me if this helps.

Hagar,

Mine wouldn't load at all, So I Uninstalled it. Then Rebooted my
PC and presto It loads. Also when it tells you this file could harm your PC take heed! ;)

Glad you fixed it but I have no idea which file you mean.

Hagar,

The self-installers. Also will The Fs9 update work in the Express
Install Of Century Of Flight?

Hagar,

The self-installers.

Ah, you mean 3rd party addons. I think this is confusing the issue as Matthew is having problems installing FS9 itself.

Also will The Fs9 update work in the Express
Install Of Century Of Flight?  Thank you for your Patience.

I don't see why not. However, I'm not the best person to answer this as I've never installed the FS9.1 update.

Hagar,

Also when it tells you this file could harm your PC take heed! ;)

this particular file will NOT harm your computer in any way, shape, or form!!!! This file is perfectly safe, as it pertains to ONLY Flight Simulator.  It is a scenery file that only works with flight simulator (in this case FS2004).  fsx, has its own fsx/scenery/world file, as i assume, FS2000 and FS2002 do also.

Being that MICROSOFT made the game; and it is TESTED by Micro$oft, your WINDOWS VISTA was made by MICROSOFT...... are you seeing a trend???? Microsoft would not make something to damage something else of theirs!

Can "EI" be employed to install 3rd party add-ons?

It's an option when you're installing FS9. You can either do an Express or Custom install. Nothing to do with 3rd party addons.
