Saitek yoke performance

I just added a Saitek yoke system to my FS9 and have a Q I hope someone can help me with. My yoke has a great deal of slack or "pllay" before it responds. Is this standard?  I have been using Saitek's joystick since starting this wonderful hobby a few mos ago and  find the joystick -- if anything --over responsive. Mine makes the aircraft move when I breath!   I also  have rudder pedals but haven't installed them yet. Any advice or comment?  Thanks..

At the main screen and select Settings-->Sensitivities.  From here you can select which controls you want to edit and change the "dead zone" for the yoke.  While flying, press ALT, then Options-->Controls-->Sensitivities.

TRAVIS: I followed your advice and set the sensitivity scales at maximum but still have too much dead space on my yoke.  The maximum setting is to the left on horizontal scale and up on the vertical setting scale, isn't it? Since my  yoke is fresh out of the box, I am hoping it isn't defective in some manner. I have crashed on every landing I've attempted with it in the few days I have had it installed, mainly because of the dead play on the yoke.   :-/ Maybe it's just getting used to it?  Hope so. If not, are there any other methods of eliminating the dead space, at least partially?  I am ssuming these yokes don't steer the aircraft as does an automobile steering wheel and there is some  lagtime but mine seems to have far too much. Unfortunately, none of my  neighbors or friends have had any experience with FS  so I have no way to compare my system with others. Sorry to be a pest on this. I have searched for some discussion on yokes here in the forum but can't locate any.

Uhh, that doesn't sound good. Default sensitivities are pretty good. In fact, I've been astounded at how accurate the yoke works, almost too accurate. I'm thinking you have a defective unit. I hope I"m wrong.

Did you buy an "open box" or refurbished unit?

Sorry, not the sensitivity.  You need to adjust the dead zones, which are under (as far as I remember) the "assignments" section.

Just to let you know, I have the saitek yoke as well, and I have the exact same problem, I purchased it new..

JERSEY: Frustrating. I called Saitek USA tech assistance in San Diego w/o success. Seems none of their tech people
(at least those I spoke with) have ever used the yoke in FS games, incredible as that may sound. I am hoping some others here in the forum who have had this problem and solved it can help. I'm sure there must be a thread in the forum on this but I can't find it after searching.

Travis: I can't find any way to adjust the yoke in "assignments'. Can you be more specific? Thanks.

I've never had a yoke but I think it's the Null Zone you need to adjust. Use the Advanced option & tweak the Aileron & Elevator settings.



PS. Move the Null Zone sliders to the left to make it more positive.

Thanks, Grumpy.  That is exactly what I was talking about, but I just couldn't remember where to find it, since I haven't got my yoke hooked up right now.
