Boeing Field scenery problem.

Postby gypsymoth » Wed Jul 22, 2009 11:18 am

I have Mike Manger's Boeingpkg.  It has a boeing folder, with a boeing scenery folder that contains 15 bgl. files.

The readme says:
Boeing Scenery for FS2004
-------------------------
This scenery package includes scenery and afcad 2 files for Boeing Field and the Everett and Renton assembaly plants. By, Mike Magner

INSTALLATION
------------
Unzip Boeingpkg and copy Boeing Scenery into your addon scenery file.

I've  put the boeing sceneryfolder into my Addon Scenery folder but when I go to Add Area & highlight it, I get a message "No items match your search."    :-?      I'd appreciate some help as I don't know what to do next  :-[

ATB,  TerryW.

I just checked this out. It's not configured properly. Try creating a new folder in the "boeing scenery" folder & rename it Scenery. Then drag all the BGL files into it. Now activate the "boeing scenery" folder from the Scenery Library.

Thanks Hagar.  Just in & knackered but will try your suggestion tomorrow when I can think straight...... ;D     I spent hours this morning trying to add the HUD from Mike Stone's C-17 to a tasty panel.  I cannot get the HUD icon to work...it brings up GPS.  It works though with shift +4.   I repaired to a hostelry thos evening for some relaxation which is not good for brain work right now  ::)

Good morning Hagar.
I've done that.   Landing on Rwy 13R I see a white bar on the right half-way down & 3 big grey 'walls' at the end on the left.    Did you get thiese?

I had emailed Mr.Magner yesterday before posting my question but it's been returned so no help there  :-?

Hi Terry. Yes, I noticed that when I tried it in FS9 after posting my reply. I assume it's caused by missing textures, possibly Gerrish Gray's tree library.

Never heard of that library but will have a go this afternoon when I get back.
Have to take an old codger shopping now in Shaftsbury.  Should be fun in all this rain  :(    FS9 fiddling to look forward to though   ::)
Cheers & thanks,
Terry.

Gerrish Gray's tree library is posted here. http://www.simviation.com/fs2002utilities_ess1.htm
Gerrish's Trees Library for FS2000/2 Release 3. Make sure you get the correct file & read the installation instructions carefully. It's required for all sorts of 3rd party scenery but I can't guarantee this will fix your problem.

I'll check out that C-17 HUD when I get a moment.

Thanks Hagar.  I googled it & got a link to Avsim so as the library is down I didn't persue it.  I've popped it in an external HD for looking at later.

Actually, even if it can't be fixed I shalln't be that disappointed.  They look like specially built sound deflection walls for the local residents!    I looked in my FS9 & found a Tree_0.bgl sitting outside the Scenery/World folder.  An Avsim topic about Gerrish's library mentioned this bgl & to put it into the Base/Scenery folder, so I did.  I still have the grey wall but hey ho!!

I put that HUD into a panel I have in my Stone Boeing-747sp, mainly as an excercise in curiosity, but having started I find I want to get that icon to bring it up, instead of Shift+5  :-[

I tried the tree library & that didn't fix the problem. It's almost impossible to know which textures are missing so unless you can find an update we're stumped.

I checked out the HUD in Mike's C-17 downloaded from here. http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/c-17.htm

I tried adding it to a 747 panel by Ken Mitchell & see the problem. I suspect this might be because it's a very complex panel. You could try it on the default 747 panel to start with.

PS. I got it working on the default panel. Swapped it with the Radio Stack window.

Yes - I replace my trees but the grey deflection walls are still there.
I just hope they stay grey!!  I have seen them bright white  :-/

Thanks for looking at the icon.  S+F5 it is then!!   It's OK but as I'm so used to looking at dials or a PFD for info, having that HUD is quite a distraction.
I was looking at it so intently I nearly hit a tree.

All good wishes.

PS: I've just installed a very nice RJGG_v2.zip airport so I must email the maker & tell him.   :)

Thank you - that fettled it.  Dodgy looking trees but better than grey walls!
