Problems in vista 64

Postby specter177 » Sat Jul 18, 2009 4:57 pm

FS2004 keeps freezing up whenever I start a flight. FSX works fine, but 2004 will load up, and then take a long time to load the scenery on the screen, then freeze. Any way I can fix this?

Well, I've never heard of this issue.  No one has complained about such a thing occurring as far as I know.  I use Vista 32 bit and have had no issues at all.

What are the specs of your system?

Is the FS9 installation unmodified?

Actually, upon closer inspection, the sim does not freeze, just the screen. I can switch views and hear it go from cockpit to spot, and hear the engine rev, but the screen still shows it idling in the cockpit view.
I have the PROPS Air Racing package installed and FS9.1 patch, but that's it.
My specs are:
OS: Vista Home Premium SP1 x64
Prosesser: Intel Q6600 Dual Core
RAM: 4GB 2x2gb
Video Card: nVidia GT260
Running in 1680x1050

I'll try uninstalling the PROPS package and see if that works.

EDIT: That didn't work.

Never mind, I just had to run it as an administrator.

Specter,  I have exactly the same problem. What do you mean you had to run it as an administrator?  If I am always signed in as administrator doesn't that mean I am also running it as an administrator?? If so I still have the problem.
Anybody  have any other suggestions?

Thanks  All,

Chief

I bought a gaming machine 9 months ago (Vista64 HE) & was having problems & was told to run it as an administrator.   I'm on my 3rd hard drive since then & at the moment FS9 is running alright but the problem is always Windoze.  It's just so flakey.  I wish it was as stable as Mac OSX is.
I never get problems with my 2 Macs  8-) ::)

Gosh you guys. I wish I could help at all. It just worked great for me. I did nothing special. 64 bit processor, 64 bit Vista, stock FS9 and FSX install.

I've since upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit, and it's perfect as well.

Is everyone using addon stuff like scenery, payware stuff....? That's one thing I don't do. I download a couple freeware aircraft here and there, but that is it.
