POSKY 737-700, 800, & BBJ2; panel & VC

Postby brantmacga » Fri May 29, 2009 6:16 pm

I downloaded the POSKY 737-700 & 800 VC models; they don't have a panel, so I get no gauges in the VC.

I followed the link in the readme file to download the panel from POSKY, but there is no download link for the file (737NG panel).

Does anyone know where it is?

Also, is it possible to get a VC in the BBJ2 model, which is the 737-800?

The .mdl files have different names, and the textures between the 800 & BBJ2 have different names.

I don't know much about how the AC are put together, but is it correct that the texture files are linked to the model file?

If anyone has an answer I would certainly appreciate it!

Oh I also installed their 737 sound package and it is awesome.

well i answered that question.

after searching the POSKY forums,  I found this;

Problem: Where are the Virtual Cockpit and Panel files for the 737NG?

As of December 2007, Project Opensky no longer supplies or supports files for the 737NG panel and virtual cockpits. Reason being is the creator of the files has left Project Opensky to form his own payware company, and at his request, all files have been removed and support for those files has been suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have on your flight sim experience.

okie dokie. so what now???

Well, you could find someone who has them already, and get the files from them.

Although I'm not sure if that would constitute a breach of copyright?  Interesting thought: a product that was once freeware has now become part of payware products.  Is it ethical or allowed/legal to give out those files?

Otherwise, you could find a 2D panel that can suffice (they exist, I'm sure) and then slowly build up a VC panel file.  This is less daunting than it may seem.  You would need the help of someone who already has that file, but you wouldn't need them to release any files to you.

It's even more complex than you think! The DVC that was incorporated into the Posky -700 and -800 models was originally part of Moach's 737 Experience, used by the Posky team in their -700 and -800 by agreement with the Moach brothers. Only the textures have changed. So I'm not sure that the VC developer can incorporate this DVC into payware products as he would have had to get permission from Moach, as it was originally a freeware product! He might have done: I don't know.

However, you don't need the ex-Posky panel as I think I can point you towards a different one. I use the 737NG panel by Arjan Scheffel, which is better than the ex-Posky one IMHO, and is supplied as part of a package incorporating his repaint of Erick Cantu's 738. (The package is on wspilots.com - as738.zip, 11th down the page here http://www.wspilots.com/mx/index.php?pa ... rewrite=no). I have the VC set up to use default and the Scheffel gauges and it works fine: here are the VC sections for the panel.cfg which might help you.

[Vcockpit01]
texture=$panel
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=1024,1024
visible=0
pixel_size=1024,1024

gauge00=AS738!PFD,

My suggestion would be to stop wasting your time with the posky 737 and give the 737 experience a try http://www.simviation.com/fs2004jets84.htm ..........Moach the auther actually took the time to make it function correctly right out the box

Couldn't agree more, rom. (But then I have got a vested interest.) This counts though, because the VC originally came from the 737 Experience!

hey Microlight, I followed the link you gave earlier, and down near the bottom of the first page I found what looks like a great freeware airbus (A318)with a VC (kinda like the holy grail for me ::)) anyways they make reference in the readme about registering some gauge....they even give a registration number,I'll be buggered if I can figure out where to register it at :-? and the game does a CTD when I try to load up the plane saying there is a problem with that gauge ........If anyone has any insight it would be great
Cheers

i have the moaches 737.

Its an great add-on, but the VC gauges for me are unreadable. I have to zoom in to see them, and even then they're still blurry.

After using the POSKY  777 VC, I was hoping to find equal quality in their 737 VC.

Rom,
I have the Aerodesigns A318 also, and apart from the VC  there's also a virtual cabin for you to explore and sit in! (If you use F1View or similar.)

What the readme means is that the key needs to be input into FSUIPC to allow the a320.gau gauge to function with it. Alternatively there are other A320-type panels you could use (I use Ken Mitchell's), or it you just want to get flying with it, you could alias it to the default 737 panel.

I have fsuipc but freeware not registered, so where do I input the reg #? Or do I need the full fsuipc?......if I use ken Mitchell's panel will the vc  work?

Well being that the 777 VC is a few years newer than the 737 VC you can probably guess that the VC in the older plane is going to be of lesser quality ;)

Which is why I'm looking for a new one . . . .  ::)

Rom,
The Mitchell panel doesn't need FSUIPC, and has a working ND and a reasonable overhead. If you add the following section into your panel.cfg (make a backup first), then the major gauges will appear in the VC.

[VCockpit01] //Mitchell gauges
size_mm=1024,1024
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$vcg
background_color=0,0,0

gauge00=Lear_45!Chronometer,  572,186,126,104
gauge01=737-400!ADI,  548,4,177,154
gauge02=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Approach Switch,  700,157,45,45
gauge03=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Master Switch,  753,159,38,36
gauge04=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Nav Switch,  702,211,45,52
gauge05=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Localizer Switch,  751,219,45,44
gauge06=Boeing747-400!Autopilot Speed Switch,  772,107,45,45
gauge07=Z_AB320KM!Baro Adjust,  588,299,92,105
gauge08=Z_AB320KM!RMI,  817,152,190,238
gauge09=Z_AB320KM!FlightDirector,  6,362,66,18
gauge10=Z_AB320KM!Gear,  847,10,119,132
gauge11=Z_AB320KM!MFD,  254,2,230,227
gauge12=Z_AB320KM!PFD,  797,422,215,200
gauge13=Z_AB320KM!EICAS_LOWER,  549,418,227,218
gauge14=Z_AB320KM!EICAS_UPPER,  0,0,244,217
