FS9 in Windows 7 RC

Its working fine so far.

However, if you have any payware that uses the Flight1 purchasing module to install, you must right-click and select "run as administrator" for it to work properly. Or at least in my experience. I also disabled my firewall in the process of troubleshooting. I left it down for all of the reinstalls. I can't say if it really matters.

From the 'help' guide on the flight1 website, it looks like these issues may have existed in vista also; but I didn't have vista, so its all new to me.

I'll report back if I run into any errors.

I'm seeing increased performance in FS9 using Windows 7 (vs. XP before).

Now I can't say that it isn't because of something else that may have been on my system before. All I know is that its running faster.

Note: I'm running Ultimate Terrain, Ground Environment, Flight Environment. . . .

In XP, with all display, realism, sound, etc. . .sliders set to MAX, I was getting between 40-50FPS; Using "real world weather", if there were a lot of clouds or a storm, my performance would dip to the 20's, and stutter every few seconds.

In Windows 7, my FPS is 60-80, and drops to 50-60 using "real world weather".

My system isn't anything flashy, but is as follows:

Intel Core Duo 1.8, 1.8 Ghz
2GB DDR2 1066
nVidia 9600GT 512MB (PCI-e 2.0 16x)

The Windows 7 rating tool gives the following ratings for this machine:

(scale is 1.0-7.9)

Processor - 4.6
Memory   - 4.8
Graphics - 5.9
Gaming Graphics - 5.9
HDD Transfer rate - 5.7

Base score is 4.6

FS9 did run very well for me on Windows 7 RC 64 bit. The only problem that I had is that it would not let me add any add on scenery. when I got to the window inside fs9 where you click OK the window would just sit there and do nothing and not continue to the window were all the red printing is that tells you to shut down fs9 and restart fs9 for the scenery to be installed. I have been running fs9 for many years on Windows XP Home edition, and have added lots of excellant scenery downloads. Any sugestions on what is happening ? Is it because of the 64 bit version ?  I tried differant compatibility modes but nothing worked. All my add on aircraft installed great. went back to XP Home.

I'm using 32-bit and have no issues.

There is a thread in the FSX forum on 64-bit. I would ask them about it.

Well today I downloaded the Windows 7 RC 32 bit and installed it, I get the same results, so have no idea. Must be some security issue or something. I am running as Administrator.
