I could really use some advice!

Postby jrbirdman » Mon Apr 27, 2009 12:34 pm

All of my aircraft have puffs of smoke coming out of them, like it is an R/C aircraft. Now I have tried to find the source to no avail. Now I know some aircraft have smoke systems, however, some such as my default Cessna 172 shouldn't but they have the puffs of smoke. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how do I fix it?

What color is the smoke, when specifically are you encountering it, and where on the aircraft is it occurring?
A screenshot may also be very helpful with this situation.

The smoke is like a bluish grey. I noticed they are like puffs. Unfortunately I don't have anything to post screen shots with nor do I know how to do it otherwise I would.

OK, you answered the first part of my question...what about the rest of the details? When, where, etc? You will need to be as specific as you can possibly be when you are dealing with problems like this.

Also, to post a screenshot, use a program such as Mgrab, or just do a search for "screenshot programs", and use what you like. After you take your shot, reduce the size of it with a photo-editing program such as gimp or photoshop, so the size is no larger than 1024 wide, and the screenshot filesize is no larger than 150kb.
Once this is done, upload your shot to the SimV servers (lhttp://www.simviation.com/yabbupload.html).

Then, copy the URL of your image into the post, and you should be done.

Well on the aircraft it depends, on choppers towars the rear of the fuselage , on the 172 close to the front like at the engine manifold.

well on start up on single eng. plane..like the cessna the mixture is full rich.so on start up on the real world aircraft you will at times get smoke due to the rich mixture and or residual fuel in the cylinders..not an insane amount but some...

However, this is constant, not just at start up.

I have tried that, so I know it isn't my smoke system.

have you checked your seals? Sounds like you have a little too much oil in your mixture.
