5 problems in FS9

Postby PlutonianEmpire » Sat Apr 18, 2009 7:24 pm

1. My repaints for the MelJet planes won't appear in the aircraft list from the select aircraft dialog, however, they appear in the aircraft list when I add to the logbook.

2. Textures for the default custom skyscrapers won't load. the textures for the autogen skyscrapers load normally, however.

3. My aircraft jumps inexplicably when taxiing either on the taxiway or bare ground..

4. FS9 and other 3d programs have frequent bouts of reduced framerates for short to medium periods of time.

5. In the atc settings dialog, the pilot voices appear twice in the pilot voices list.

Can anyone help?

Regarding your repaints:  It would be helpful if you would post a sample of your aircraft.cfg file which includes one or more of your repaints.  I would bet it is something simple which has been overlooked when adding to the cfg file.

Thanks for pointing that out. I had completely forgotten about that. And yes, I just checked the boeing section, and found them.

Thank you for your help with the first problem.

4 more to go.  ;D

Is this a default location or one where you may have added an enhancement of some sort?

If default, coordinates would be helpful so we can compare what we see there.

Regarding the buildings. Do they only not load textures at distances, or will they remain blank when you are right next to them?

If they are only blank at a distance, I believe that is normal. FS is merely saving resources by not going into high detail at extended ranges.

Regarding the bouncing, what aircraft do you encounter this with? If it is with all aircraft, it could be a poorly made AFCAD file.

Actually, when bouncing, the whole plane goes up and down while still facing straight and level.

Yeah, turns out the buildings appear normally when I get close to them. Sorry for the false alarm on that one.

Your going to need to give more detail please.

With the bouncing....

Is it all aircraft? Only certain aircraft? (If only certain ones, which ones?)

Does this only occur at certain airports? Addon scenery?
(Could be poor AFCAD)

Re #5, double voices in list: Sounds like you have 2 active atc voicepacks, The sim will use multiple atc voicepacks, if present. The default atc voicepack is 'USEnglishBig.gvp'. (The other default, 'USEnglishASOS.gvp', does not effect the voice list.)

Look in the main Sound folder for

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I think "jumping" is a better descriptive... :-/

I just confirmed the building texture issue - as another poster has suggested, this is normal and I am not aware of a tweak which would make them load at extended distances.
