FPS issue

Well never thought that i would have a problem that would stump me with FS9.

I have my frames locked at 35FPS

Any ways for some odd reason my FPS won't get above the 20 FPS mark. just last week i was able to play at 35

I reinstalled but even at the default settings it hangs at 20FPS. every once in a while it'll pop to 26 or something but other than that it just stays at 20.

any suggestions?

Well, I'm going to be honest with you.
I never used fs9 on a Mack before so i cant tell you what could happened.But usually those kinds of thing may happen after a installation of some scenery, plane or even some updates you might have done.Since fs9 came around i have been fighting with FPS.
The only thing i can tell you is try to defrag your HD.Try to see if there was any update that could have been done, if you changed anything on the video settings.Sometimes it could be something really stupid like a change in frequency or resolution, AA.But it happen to me before to and it was always something like that.
I know its not much but, i hope it helped a bit.

yes i am on boot camp and all the drivers are up to date. no updates have been installed for a while (since i installed the OS actually which was last week)

did a defrag and that didn't work. there were a couple of updates in the update thing so i'm doing those right now.

so it seems the only way to get good FPS is to either look at the ground or the sky. when i look at the horizon line i can only get 20 no more and maybe less.

Updating directX to see if that helps.

...have you suddenly got "something" running in the background, taking up Processor time?... ...

....Windows/Anti-virus updates?

...Anti-virus, Mailware, etc, scans running in the background?

Any of these running in the background, without your knowledge, will slow your overall system down... ...!

P.S. Locking your FS 2004 Frame Rate at 20 FPS is a good idea, (for overall "smoothness"), and is especially recommended if you use on-line Multiplayer......!

Also, another tip. Make sure that you have sufficient RAM Memory installed, (2GB or more), to prevent the scenery, etc, from spooling from the Hard Drive as you fly......!

i don't thick ram is the issue here as i have 4gb. and there are no processes that are using cpu cycles.

Were there any significant updates or anything just before you noticed the problem?  Since Mac's weren't designed to run Windows programs, it may be that one of the auto-updates is messing with whatever Windows/Mac interface you're using.  Don't know much about Mac's myself, but it's something you might want to check on.

No updates were involved.

anyways installed a fresh copy of windows 7 and slowly rebuilding.

BTW this is not emulated in anyway. boot camp allows windows to be run native on the mac hardware. so really its no different than running windows on your own computer
