FS9 in windowed mode problems

Postby Dan Morera » Mon Mar 30, 2009 9:44 pm

Hey guys I got my computer conected to my tv via HDMI cable, the video card is a 8800GTS 320 mbs.

The thing is that when I fly in windowed mode and click on another window (ie firefox) and then click back on fs9 the fs9 screen goes black, I can hear the plane, if I launch my gps I can see that the plane is still going. But I can't get the image back.

I can also click alt and use the menus at the top, but my fs9 window remains black

any ideas?

thanks
Dan

I fly in full screen mode...

.....then, if I want to switch back to the desktop (Firefox) for any reason (to check who is on line in Multiplayer, etc)...

I just press the "Windows" key on the keyboard. This sends FS 2004 to the Task bar, (still running).

I Browse the Desktop, Firefox, etc....

Then I click on the FS 2004 in the Task bar to return me back to the flight again where I left off....

...sorted!... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

Paul....G-BPLF...FS 2004...FS Navigator...and a Windows key... ;)...!

This is an excellent tip, which unfortunately doesn't work with most other Computer Games.... :'(...!

Fozzer (+ Dan),

I use that same trick also.  It works about 97% of the time.

On rare occasions, when I restart FS2004 this way after starting something like AIBridge, the full screen of FS2004 comes up solid black, with the hourglass flickering over it, with the aircraft engine noise running as normal, and it just stays that way (similar to Dan's problem).  The sim is running..... but there are no visuals at all.

So there is SOMETHING in the FS2004 code that causes this kind of "hang".

best,

I run in full-screen mode too, and if I want to get back to the desktop (like now: I have a B767 flying between Manchester and Oslo on pause!) then I task-switch using alt-tab. Never failed me yet.

That one gets me about the same 97% success rate.  On the other 3%... I get the "Black Hourglass Hang" also.

Have never figured this one out.

Microlight, are you using an NVidea card too?
