Found this item on another site and was wondering if it had any merit.

My mistake on the double entry - acounting 101?  Is that a negative 'nope', meaning to disregard?

A little, but not much. As far as I can tell, all it really does is eliminate certain specific autogen buildings like barns, fast food burger joints, and such. By renaming the auogen.xml to autogen.bak, you're saving your system the time it takes to look in the autogen.xml file to see what specific building should be placed where, thus freeing up those resources, which may give you a slight performance boost, but again not much.

I tried it, and personally I didn't notice enough of a difference to make it worth losing those specific buildings.
