Your longest flight?

Postby Stewy44 » Tue Feb 17, 2009 6:10 am

G'day guys,

Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered many times before on the forums - but I was just curious what sort of flights you do.

Me, I love the heavy metal and usually fly default 737s and 747s on the 1-2 hour routes.

My longest flight was 7 hours, SR-71 take off from London, head west and land back in London. Unlimited fuel can be a wonderful thing. ;D
There's nothing else quite like chasing the sunset, and winning. ;)

Haha, I shudder to think what Mach and FL you were flying at! ;)

70,000ft and mach 4.76 the whole way. ;D

Not a very scenic trip, but I can say I've flown around the earth from West to East, (and North to South in FSX)

My longest flights generally take less than an hour, in one of my General Aviation, single or twin piston props, hopping from one inland airfield/airstrip to the next...

...any longer means that I have not kept a regular, wary eye, on the fantastic meal cooking in my kitchen, .....with dire results!... :o...!

Done that too. Round the world west to east in a Howard 500.

My longest nonstop trip north to south was flying a C-17 from Barrow, Alaska to the Falkland Islands. Landed with 435 gallons left in the tanks.

I've done Barrow to Miami, such a long trip in a 737, I couldn't imagine trying to go further. 8-)

I bet your round the world trip took forever in the 500! :o
Makes me feel like I've really cheated now. ;D

Longest flight I ever did was Amsterdam - Rome. After that I decided never to do that again. Probably the most boring thing I did on FS. Normally my flights take an hour max. Low and slow.

Crash ;)

The lovely thing about my trusty little Cessna 150, with its top speed of around 100 Knots, means that fortunately, I don't go far enough for me to get bored with the journey. I quickly land, switch the Sim off, and go outside and mow the grass....

...which has got to be just as boring as Crash's flight from Amsterdam to Rome.....

...but at least I get to do some exercise for a change!... ;)..!
