Idle speed adjustment in FS9

:-? I fly the Raythyon T6-Texan II. At Idle, the engine speed is so high that the brake and parking brake cannot keep the plane from moving. Also, after landing, it is hard to slow or stop the T6. How can I adjust the idle speed so this does not happen? I have had this problem on other aircraft as well.

I'm certainly no expert, but I have seen in the .cfg files certain lines that have feathering speeds for the prop and low-rpm speeds for the engine. Maybe your prop is set too high from the get-go. Before you start messing with things, make a copy of that airplane's folder in the Aircraft folder of FS9, move the original to your Desktop, slide your copy into the main folder, then start screwing around with things in the .cfg file of the copy. If you get things working, keep the copy in place and archive the original. It's worth a try...

so...you have the same problem with your other Aircraft?

Have you fully applied and saved all the Joystick/Yoke/etc, settings in the Start > Settings > Control Panel > Game Controllers program?

My Saitek Cyborg Evo Force Joystick requires regular adjustments of the Throttle (range) and Stick (centering) before every flight, with every Aircraft in my Hangar....(including the Default Aircraft).

P.S. What is the reading on your Engine Rev Counter, when the throttle is at at its minimum setting...it should indicate idle speed.

For Turbo Props, the idle setting is more complicated (Propeller Pitch Controls are also involved).

Another question would be, is the plane actually at idle, but it's producing too much power for the brake to hold it, or is the engine rpm too high and you can't back it down?

What is the actual filename (??????.zip) and where did you download it from?

I see on a number of add-on aircraft I have, an entry under the [GeneralEngineData] label of the aircraft.cfg file as follows:

min_throttle_limit =

with values ranging from 0.000000 to 0.02.

I have no idea if this might be what you need to add or tweak, but it might be worth a try.

Load up a Default Cessna 172.

Start the engines and look at the engine Tachometer.
At your minimum throttle setting is should indicate idling at between 600 and 800 RPM.
Apply full throttle, with the brakes held full on, the reading should be around 2,700 RPM.

Close the throttle, and the reading should slowly drop to 600-800 RPM again.

Your taxiing RPM on the ground should lie between 1,000 and 1,200 RPM.

If that is successful, then you have your "throttle/speed application" problems elsewhere......!
