Sailplane Electrical System

It seems some place in this forum or perhaps FLight one or Dreamflight forums. I saw once a Aircraft.cfg fix that could be made to prevent any glider with a master switch gauge, configured on the panel from allowing the Battery to totally bleed down. For example on the Schwiezer 2-32 or any of the other many sailplanes which can be downloaded and configured, the radio will stay alive only for approximately 10 minutes . after which it powers down and you cannot Reenergize it. Something in the Electrical Matrix in Aircraft.cfg was changed, and Now I cannot find it. ANYONE out there know what that metric was??? or how to fix this problem???

What you are describing is usually associated with what you are using as your default flight.

If you have saved a flight in a true "cold and dark" state (with the battery and avionics off), and made that your default flight, those parameters - including the battery and avionics off state - are passed on to whatever aircraft you then select to fly.

After 10 minutes or so your electrical system fails as you have drained the battery.

Could that be what is happening in your case?

Thanks much for reply...Yea I already thought of that..I know with Dream Flights 727 or any other if I secure cockpit and shut everything off and place aircraft on ground power only...and save as default then next time I reenter...it is in a cold an darks state...However with the various sailplanes I enjoy flying and do also in real life, Any of the aircraft for which I have  aradio installed...be it a ICOM Handheld like is in the schweizer of any of the download aircraft. Or like in my LS-7 Rolladein Schneider..Iif I install the switch and leave it in masteron state when I exit and save the airplane...and then reenter the airplane in the same state...after 10-15 minutes it still shuts off. this does it the same for any of the default gliders like eh 2-32. To get the radio to stay on all i need to do is //remark out the gauge for the switch.
The LS-7 normally does not even come with a master. I actually installed one from the Extra...and it does same thing. I Installed one from the Schweizer 2-32..same thing. Obviously the glider has no engine..or means of sustaining the battery for any period of time...But someplace I saw a fix for the Electrical matrix in aircraft.cfg which I thought involved making a Line for example minimum_battery_voltage=7.5. I tried this and it did not work...
Not sure how to keep battery alive in a glider for any period of time...thanks anyway.

If I remember correctly, you can set your battery to "unlimited" in the miscellaneous section of a registered copy of FSUIPC.

Perhaps that would keep your sailplane aloft!

Try this

Look for a section labeled [electrical] . If it doesn't exist, the paste all of the following into the .cfg file as a new section. If the [electrical] section exists, then replace all of it with this:

max_battery_voltage = 24
generator_alternator_voltage = 28
max_generator_alternator_amps = 60
electric_always_available = 0
flap_motor = 0, 0, 0
gear_motor = 0, 0, 0
avionics_bus = 0, 0, 0
avionics = 0, 0, 0
additional_system = 0, 0, 0

Now the battery has voltage, but none of the systems like the radio draw any power.

Thankyou very very much. That absolutely did the Trick.This is a fix, that is also applicable to any sailplane off any Flight sim website. I have downloaded approx 18 aircraft from various websites, for use with FS2004, and FSX. all Sailplanes downloaded seem to have this problem, for obvious reasons...NO ENGINE Driven Generator. I have the same Identical problem with the default Schweizer 2-32 in 2004. My own real life Rolladein Schneider LS-4, has a dual battery system and will last many many hours of flying, between Recharge. With this fix in place, I just completed one leg of a diamond cross country, out of Meadow lake NE of Colorado SPrings, soaring to 22000, thermaling 4 times and completeing a flight to just east of Cheyenne WYoming. 147 Miles, and 2hr 51min in air, without losing my radio, and avionics, Cambridge Vario, and Flight computer etc. Great job. This is a fix you probably should offer up as a download, on the Simviation Gliders download site.

Thanks Much...Good Job....Perhaps one day I will be able to return the favor..I would like to learn more about Aircraft design...I have taken perhaps 50 aircraft, and Modified panels, Bitmaos to suit my own flying likes and dislikes...based on 53 years of real world Flying Experience...However actual aircraft contruction for Flight Sim. so far eludes me. Maybe one day...This LS-4 I downloaded from a European site flies precisely like my real one...it is a real pleasure to fly, thermal Ridge and Wave soar. This electrical problem was not stopping me from flying...but it was frustrating to lose communicaitons and ability to lower the Landing gear..at Flight termination...beautiful controlled...approaches had to terminate in a runway scraping sparks flying slide....Now no longer...balancing on one centerline wheel, gainst a stiff crosswind, 50 degrees off heading...is now a piece of cake...thanks...
