So near and yet........

In this process of getting my feet wet - FS9-wise, I'm already well over my ankles.

it didn't show up in the 'default' or 'addon' lists when I was 'creating a flight' so I deleted it.

Did you delete it from the Scenery Library or the Addon Scenery folder?

If you post a link to the file I can check it out.

I downloaded the file to check it out. I've never trusted auto-installers but after trying it in a dummy directory first I allowed it to install to my FS9. There are several install options during the process.

I chose the default settings although it didn't update my Scenery.cfg.

Not sure quite what you've done there. The easiest & quickest way to remove it might be to manually delete the entry from Scenery.cfg. Be careful or you could mess everything up.

Can you paste the last entry in your Scenery.cfg here so I can see it? Find Scenery.cfg in your FS9 root directory & open it in Notepad. Scroll right down to the bottom & highlight the last entry. Then select Edit/Copy & paste it into your next reply.

It will look something like this;

[Area.039]
Title=FlyTampa-Miami
Local=Addon Scenery\FlyTampa-Miami
Remote=
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE

Still have the pink squares and demo on the default Miami Intl.

Here's what my 'Addon Scenery' contains.

Thanks for confirming that. I suggest opening Scenery.cfg in Notepad & changing the [Area.038] entry to look exactly like mine. It's only a simple edit to the Local= line. Then exit Notepad saving changes when prompted.

[Area.038]
Title=Addon Scenery
Local=Addon Scenery
Layer=38
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Remote=

Please tell me if that fixed it.

Made the edit in scenery.cfg - still had the pink Miami.
Deleted the Blue icon demo file from addon scenery - got rid of pink Miami so default Miami is OK.

Right back to square one but have learned stuff in the process so it wasn't a wasted trip.

Not wasted at all. That wasn't the best example to start with but you should now have no problems installing scenery manually. ;)
