Autopilot approach hold..

I was trying out the approach hold feature today (Landing in BAD weather) and saw that when the autopilot was bringing me down the glide slope, it had my nose angle down around 5-10 degrees. Is there anyway to adjust this to a lesser angle angle in the .cfg file? I tried putting the throttles to idle and it had no effect on the AoA that the autopilot had me at.

There are alot of variables to your question, none of which should involve you changing anything in a cfg. file......
-what plane?
-what speed?
-auto throttle?
-what flap setting?(this will change your angle of attack, assuming you maintain your approach speed)

Romflyer's right; we need more information. My guess is that (a) you were too fast, (b) your flaps were inappropriately set, or (c) you were way above the glideslope to begin with, and the AP was trying to compensate. (I may be completely wrong, but who cares  ::) ).
Also, what airport were you flying into?

Did it bring you down successfully? If so then what's the problem......:P

If not I'd suggest a little trimming needs to be done, or one of the above factors was in play ;)

I have learned to use the elevator trim in some planes to stay in line......... I forget to turn off the Auto Throttle sometime upon 20 miles or so out and that when it get hard to slow down.


The autopilot handles the trim while it is engaged. If you try to retrim it will just override your inputs while it is on. And it's not necessary to turn off the auto-throttle that far out - just reduce the speed setting.

Maybe see if this helps (from FAQs above)?

I guess you were to slow with to much flaps on auto-pilot.

Havings flaps out will actually lower your nose......assuming you maintain your approach speed. As you lower your flaps the nose will pitch up and your airspeed will bleed off, lowering the nose will maintain your airspeed.
