Missing Beech Staggerwing

Postby gary1943 » Fri Feb 06, 2009 11:35 am

Just started running FS 2004 again. I Noticed my favorite Beech Staggerwing aircraft never had sounds (except gear open/close) like it had previously. The other AC had their sounds. So I went to C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator/Aircraft/ but there wasn't any Beechcraft Staggerwing folder to be found! I opened the other AC folders & confirmed (by opening each plane.cfg file) that they were correct. Made sure all AC folders were not hidden.

Summary: I can select and fly the Staggerwing but all sounds except for gear open/close.

Any ideas where the Satterwing folder might be hiding?

Hi Gary. The Staggerwing is not a default aircraft. Perhaps you removed it yourself. There's a nice looking package posted here ---> http://www.simviation.com/fs2004vintage39.htm

PS. Silly me. If you can select the aircraft it's obviously installed. Have another look. The folder name might not be Staggerwing or anything like it.

I've went thru all of the 37 folders under my C:/Program Files/Microsoft/Games/Flight Simulator/Aircraft/ folder and checked all of their aircraft.cfg files - none are Staggerwing?? :-/ :)

I'm sure that I added the Staggerwing to FS 9 last year and it worked correctly.

If the Staggerwing is listed on the selection menu & you can fly it in FS2004 it must be there somewhere. Most of those 37 folders will be default so it shouldn't be too difficult to track down. ;)

I checked out the package I mentioned & it works fine. Both wheeled & float versions have their own sound so that should fix the problem.

PS. These are the 30 default folders in the FS9\Aircraft directory. That leaves you 7 to look in for that elusive Staggerwing.
