Bizarre Problem in FS

Postby DeltaJMJ » Tue Feb 03, 2009 8:14 pm

Hi y'all,
I have just installed FS2004 on my new computer (which has the juice to run it - dual core processor at 4 gHz, Geforce 9200 card, 4 GB of ram), but I'm having a very bizarre problem. The external views won't refresh. I can't really even describe it that well. For instance, sitting at KSEA in the default 172, I can tell that FS is running fine, because when I throttle up, the gauges all reflect the increase (pressure increases, RPM increases, so forth); in fact, if I release the brakes, I can even get up to speed and take off, as reflected by the airspeed indicator, artificial horizon, altimeter, VSI, etc. etc. But the view outside the cockpit is still just looking down the runway. If I switch views, nothing happens, until I cycle back to the cockpit. Even then, only the panel has changed. The outside view is exactly as it was when I booted up the sim.
I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this. I've tried even the most bare bones settings, and nothing helped.
Any insight would be extremely helpful!
Thanks,
DeltaJMJ

Might be worth noting, too, that when I use shift-z, it tells me I'm getting 20 fps.

Vista (64bit).

You are running a 32 bit program on a 64 bit operating system. It is like trying to put 12 bullets in a six shooter. Try setting the compatibility mode it might work. I for one do not understand why people want to use the 64 bit version of any operating system when there are only a few 64 bit programs out there. So that means you wind up faking out your system to get it to act like a 32 bit system. What a waste. To me that just does not make any sense at all.  :-?

I run FS9 on my 64 bit system with no problem, actually it runs great.

Glad you got it to work but it is still faking out your system. I know that at some point down the road everything will be 64 bit but until then I will stick with 32 bit. As for Vista it is already being replaced with a new windows system. Boy now that sure did not last long. :-?
