'no disc 4' download

Postby olderndirt » Sat Jan 24, 2009 12:08 am

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I thought I read somewhere of a download that eliminates having to load disc 4 when you run FS9.  Am I dreaming?

Here at SimV, we shouldn't jump to conclusions.  While 'free' is always nice, I'm more than willing to pay.

Having a download of any sort that removes the necessity to have the disc in the drive, whether you payed to access the download or not is ILLEGAL.

Microsoft's need to have the disc in is a form of copy protection, and tampering with that is not a smart idea.

It's also illegal to exceed the speed limit (in your car of course) in a built-up area, but hands up all those law abiding citizens who rigorously stick to it at all times. Thought so.

Nobody here ever make a copy of a friend's CD, strictly for your own use? Domestic tape recorders have been on the market for sixty years.

The fact is that those who want to use one of these cracks will find one, even if they won't find one here. As old buffers other than myself (sorry guys) have said on these forums, 'google is your friend'.

I kind of wish there was a way to run FS without Disc 4 in the drive, too. Mine is getting a bit scuffed. I leave it in there to keep that from happening more than necessary, but it does occur from time to time that I must remove it. Seeing a problem in the offing, I bought three extra copies of FS2004 while it was still available...

I couldn't say how well it would perform with the "crack" but, unless you really hate the disks, it probably isn't worth the trouble.

You should take into consideration that it is breaking a (copyright) law and you will not get caught for it.

:o

Did you know 3 out of 4 teenagers have pirated something?
Think about this: have you every sped in your car? I would assume everyone has gone over the speed limit at least once. So you could say that just about everyone in America (can't say anything about anywhere else) has broken a law. Not including the Amish and those locked in a basement...... ;D

'Thief thinks every man steals'.

Or something like that anyway.

Seriously, IMO it's some accusation to say, that no one abides to the speed limits. I really HATE it, when some guy does something bad, and in his defence says that EVERYONE does it. I've seen it quite a few times, and no kidding, the persons have all been wrong every time.

Hm, I touched a nerve there, anxyous... This year, there will be more than a million UK motorists who will be fined for speeding. And did you see Wii's statistic? This kind of stuff really happens.

Anyhow, back on topic: my suggestion would be a sticky in the forum header, followed by a policy of no-reply if the question is asked, or a short reference to the sticky by a mod, followed by locking of the thread. That way, there shouldn't be any issues like this.

;)

i have the patch; i got it from simviation downloads a few years ago.

it works just fine; i don't currently have it installed as it had to be removed for the fs9 update. to be honest, i don't even know if it works with the update.

maybe i'll reinstall just to find out. that would be convenient.
