I'm stuck... and could use some kind help!

Postby Gradguy » Sun Jan 18, 2009 5:10 pm

Hello,  I'm a newbie to flight simulators. So please bare with me.

I am a graduate student doing research and thought a flight simulator would be a good way of doing some animating of a paraglider for  project presentation... I'm not a animator!!! Smiley. So this looks to be the easiest way to go.

I've been looking for a powered paraglider trike.  Found one package named Lago Ultralights...  I followed the install instructions and looked at the user guide but for what ever reason the paragliders and hang gliders of that package are completely crazy... They tumble end over end and seem not to respond to anything.

What am I doing wrong... The package is for FS2004... I have FS2004 Hmmm... I could use some kind help getting this fixed.  I am running vista 64 but that should make a difference.

I was looking at buying FSX because it offers better 3d.  Would these aircraft work in FSX that would be my first choice.
Thanks in advance

This is a link to very nice Trike for FS2004.  Not sure it is what you are seeking but perhaps worth a look.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Opa for the link.... AVSIM has a a lot of to offer, unfortunately i couldn't find a powered parachute.

If anybody knows how to fix a model so it works right in FS2004 please let me know...

The powered paraglider I have is should work but I'm not experenece with FS2004 to make it work....  LAGO isn't around anymore so I can't look them up.

Somebody on here have an idea on how to get LAGO paraglider to run?

Thank you

Me again,

I'm new to this and I'm just fumbling around trying different setups.

I've un-installed everything and move to another pc to see if it was a hardware issue... Nope it's a setting or software issue.  For the life of me I can figure out what the problem is.

I can run the other ultralights in the package but not the parafoils... Any thoughts?

Please... I'm desperate

Postby Gradguy » Mon Jan 19, 2009 4:08 pm

Update.  I have spend hours looking for alternatives to the LAGO Ultralights and found nothing...

I don't know what to do from this point... My knowledge is really limited when it comes to Flight Simulators.

If I can't get this one  model to fly, is it possible for somebody to build one for me...?

Could somebody please help me trouble shoot this.

Please.

Gradguy,

This might not be much help........ but I have heard that there can be weird glitches running Fs2004 on Vista 64 (not 32 bit).

Thank you JBaymore for the quick reply...

I've tried FS2004 and the Paraglider models on a 32bit xp machine and get the same result...

Sorry about the fopa request to have a model built. I didn't / don't understand the complexity of such a request.

Having said that, am I stepping into another one by inquiring if the current model I have be fixed by somebody?  That way its not a build but more of a tweek.

If anybody can help please let me know

Thanks gypsymoth... I've determined that my issue is with the model itself... I've run the model on a xp 32 bit os and vista 64 same issues on both.

I'm hoping somebody will help me rebuild the model to work on FSX.  The actual model looks good, everything shows up just like it should, but it does not react at all. In "FS2004 which it was built for" the model rapidly and randomly spins and tumbles when loaded.

So If you know of anybody that can help me with a rebuild I would be very thankful.

Gradguy,

Something you said in the above brings me to this thought.........

Are you able to fly the default Cessna or something like that, with the controls responding correctly in either fs2004 or FSX?

It MAY just be a controls setup issue.

And if you are now working exclusively with FSX........ you should move the discussion/questions over to the FSX forum section for better input from others.

best,

I am able to fly all everything in FS2004 aircraft inventory except the powered paragliders  I'm not dead set on FSX I just thought i would be a better route to fix the problem.

If the Paraglider model can be easier fixed for FS2004 then so be it.  I can't be picky at this point.

Where did you download this file? I did a search for "Lago Ultralights" & it appears to be a payware package.

I looked for LAGO to get some help but it turns out they are not around anymore so that does me little good.

I bought a used computer from the estate of guy who was into flight simulators... His widow didn't know much more about his computer but he was into paragliding, his stoke was about 7 years ago and couldn't fly anymore.  We figure he got into flight sims shortly after.

Gradguy, you might try this:

http://home.hiwaay.net/~goodrick/Downloads.html

On this page is a parafoil, you'll see it. It's for FS2004, designed by a former NASA guy that did research on parachutes. You might find it's what you need.

Hope this helps.

Edit, I don't remember if it's powered or not.
