FS9 & Windows Vista...

Postby Lysander77 » Thu Jan 15, 2009 7:18 pm

Can anyone suggest how well FS9 works with Windows Vista? Expecially as regards various add-ons of aircraft, scenery, terra mesh, et al?
Thank you for your attention and counsel.

Beyond Vista being a resource hog when compared to XP, I have not heard of any ill effects when using FS2004 with the 32 bit version, other than making sure all of the permissions are granted within Vista's power hungry security system.
I have heard some negative press about usage with Vista - 64 bit, but I'll leave it to those with the 64 bit version to share any problems that they may have.

Tips for running FS9 with windows Vista

Always and i mean ALWAYS run FS9 on Administrator mode. I've had first hand experience/frustration. Always run on administrator mode. Also, somethings may not work because of certain security programs like MacAfee, and other programs, I know The newer models by DELL come with free trial MacAfee programs.

Many thanks for your prompt and welcome advice. With these caveats in mind I'll risk a trial on Windows Vista. As always, your helpful responses add much to the enjoyment of Flight simming!

because of certain security programs like MacAfee

which you know you shouldn't use in the first place as McAfee and Symantec anti-virus products are even worse resource hogs than Vista itself ...

You should consider using NOD32 or AVG ...
