PMDG 737NG and pushback

Postby ilise737 » Sun Jan 11, 2009 1:48 am

Hello to everyone.
I am currently using pushback through defaut FS9 Shift+(P) button.
However when reading the pmdg manual (last pages) there is a section giving a link (avsim library - does not exist any more) to Rob's pushback.
In that section it is given a panel config edit adding rob's gauge to the existing  pmdg's 737 radio panel.
However as hard as I have checked online I could not find any gauges to cope with the existing radio panel.
There is the rob's pushback version 4.0 but it does not work with pmdg simply because pmdg does not recognise any extra aditions to its program lines.
It seems it is locked by its programmers so the only solution would be the specific gauges that add the function to the radio panel.
Any lack guys? Does any one of you PMDG users have the modified radio panel with the rob's gauge in it?

Hi Nick.

I have Rob Barendregt's gauges in my PMDG cockpit, working no problem. They are not part of the radio panel but pop up independently on icon click. I'm using previous versions of the gauge (the newest one is rcbgh-40.zip at Avsim) but it works fine - just make sure the gauges are in the RCB-gauges folder, make a backup of the PMDG panel.cfg file and put these additions into your active panel.cfg:

under [window_titles]
Window17=Pushback

under [window01]
gauge26=rcb-gauges!Icon_Pushback, 25,450,15,15

[Window17]
size_mm=146,100
ident=10005

Thank you veru much my friend,
I have not had the chance to test it yet but I will today.
One more question. If I choose to modify window 8 then where do I have to put .gau files and which ones?
Are the same gauges that are found to the new 4.0 version?
I have tried already to add window 17 but with no lack. Even though I am adding window 17 nothing appears in the instrument section. Last window is always the chronometer window. I do not know why. So I figured that the software was locked. Now that you are telling me you had added window 17= pushback something else may be tha cause of my problems. >:(

Nick,

I haven't had the opportunity of trying out the v4 gauges yet, but I'm sure that the concept is very similar to that above.

Put the .gau and .cab files into the panel folder that you're adding to - or if you want to apply them to more than one plane, put them in the main gauges folder, it doesn't matter which. FS checks the panel folder for gauges first and then looks in the main gauges folder if it doesn't find any in the main folder.

If you decide to add an extra pop-up window such as window 17, then don't forget the extra entry in the [window_titles] section, or FS won't 'see' that there's a new pop-up to display. Also, you need to add the pushback icon to the main window section in order to toggle the pushback panel.

;)

Dear friend I have just managed to fix the pushback problem.
Here iks what caused the problem. Maby I was stupid but i did not think that I should add - edit the same lines to both the panel.cfg and Vpanel.cfg.
So everything works now smoothly.
Thank you very much for your help - advices.
Here is one more problem though. I am using another addition the announcement panel. I have done everything described in the readme file and it works perfectly to other planes. However having done the exact same things to the pmdg plane  the announcement panel even though is functional it appears black. Only the buttons are visible but not the background which would be grey.
Any suggestions?

Nick,

There might be a .bmp file for the gauge background that you might need to copy into the PMDG panel folder. Check the panel.cfg file; the section you added for this addition will give you the name of the file that should be in the folder, in the 'file=' line.

This is exactly the weird thing. The .bmp file has been added already. At all panels work perfectly. Only the pmdg panel refuses to appear the bmp file correctly >:(
