Another question about FS9.cfg's Terrain settings?

After reading the messages on this (including Nick's posts), and other forums, I am quite confused/lost.

My Specs:
i7 920 oc'd to 3.8
6gb Corsair RAM
ASUS P6T Deluxe v2,
EVGA 275GTX
1TB WD 7200/32 Black
2x 750GB WD 7200/32 Black
Samsung 22" 1680x1050 LCD
Corsair 800D case
Windows 7 64-bit
CDreier
Ground hog

In my experience that kind of drop to desktop usually seems to be triggered by one of two things:

It probably wouldn't be AI traffic since I have it turned off while I fly virtually all of my flights on VATSIM.

It's always random as far as I can tell.  The routes I fly are long-distance (1:30-4+ hours) and hardly ever the exact same route / flight.
