All default files can be extracted from the install CDs.

You'll find the files destined for the Modules folder on CD#2-in MSGAME3.cab
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I tried to take the default files from the second cd but it wont even let me copy the default sound.dll onto the one that is in there. I cant even delete it or move it onto my desktop.

I just keep getting the message:

Cannot move SOUND: Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-

Ok it started out when I downloaded a new panel for my 777 but after I installed it I placed the sound.dll in my modules folder and replaced the default one!

Are you sure this wasn't FSSound.dll? If I'm correct it's not a default file. You can either remove it or edit fs9.cfg as per the installation instructions.

na the module that was in the panel folder for me to move to the module folder was a sound.dll not a fssound.dll.

I put the one that came in the folder and ovverode the original and i edited the cfg too but i still cant do anything with my fs9

And the instructions told me to put this in the .cfg

[OLDMODULES]
FSSound.dll=1

That CFG entry appears to confirm my suspicions that it was FSSound.dll. You don't usually replace default modules when installing FS addons.  Can you post a link to this panel so I can check it out.

I dont know but i cant get a link from avsim for some reason i usually copy and paste but avsim is wierd.

If you go on avsim to the file library and search fs2004 panels and search "boeing 777" its the second panel named "777dlx6.zip"

OK. I have the file & you're correct about that sound.dll. No sign of the FSSound.dll mentioned in the instructions. I can only presume the author included the wrong module in the download.

Did you try rebooting the PC before replacing it with the correct version from the CD?

I just checked that sound.dll included with the panel. It's version 8.0.0.10919 that was the FS2002 default. The FS9 version is 9.0.0.30612. Not sure if this would cause your problem.

Glad you fixed it. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Rebooting the PC is the first thing I would try with this sort of problem.
