...reference and checklist text to the kneeboard of an aircraft that doesn't already have that information?

Cheers in advance.

Hi Dave, and thanks for the quick reply.

I have added two txt documents to my aircraft folder;

558_check.txt
558_ref.txt

and I have added the following lines to my Aircraft.cfg

title=PSS Vulcan 558
sim=558
model=XH558
panel=
sound=
texture=XH558
[glow=yellow,2,300]kb_checklists=558_check
kb_reference=558_ref[/glow]
checklists=
atc_id_enable=1
atc_id=XH558

I'm not sure about the line immediatly below the highlighted, "checklists="

Either way the checklist and reference page refuse to display any text I enter.
I'm not sure if it's relevant but the Vulcan "out of the box" doesn't have a kneeboard, so I added one (along with a GPS and Map.)

As always, all help much appreciated.

Cheers.

Zaphod

Is there any way of entering text into the kneeboard on the fly? It was possible in FS2002, but not in FS9, I think.

microlight-they did away with the Kneeboard's 'Notes' function in FS9.

Dave.

Yes I did add the two text files to the Vulcan folder in the FS9/Aircraft folder. I also used notepad to add my text.
In the meantime I have also edited out the reference to "Checklists=" after backing up the original cfg file.
I have 19 (yes count them,19) textures for the plane and I have added the kb_checklists= etc to all enties.
I'll go back and look for typos etc. and report back.

Thanks for now.

Zaphod

ps.
Yes you are correct. I added a simicon to open the kneeboard. I was unaware you could open it with F10. ::)

O.K.
Mystery solved.
In my ignorance I had named the two text files "558_check.txt & 558_ref.txt" instead of "558_check and 558_ref" not allowing notepad to add the "txt" extention.

Muppet ::)

Thanks again for the help Dave.

Best.

Thanks, Dave - pity about that; very useful feature. Guess I'll have to continue to use the world map to get the NAV radio and ILS frequencies...

Microlite: There's an addon available here at SimV that'll allow you to access airport info in flight through the Internet - it replaces the 'key commands' section of the Kneepad. I can't think of the name of the thing right now; I've had it for years but I'll try to track it down for you. Works a treat!

Oh - that said, I do hate using it...I prefer to plot my route ahead of time. ;)

Edit:
OK; I'm pretty sure this is it; though the screenshot looks a bit different. This one'll do the trick though.

:-/

I added the line of code (used your worldaerodata link above), but it doesn't show on the kneeboard, even scrolling down. The utilities are good though. I tried to copy-and-paste the map text data into the notepad (like I did in FS8), but it wouldn't do it - I guess because the notepad is HTML. Getting the landing runway data isn't a problem though: I also use the RwyInfo v2 gauge which tells you on the panel what your arrival frequencies are.

Thanks again!

Meanwhile, I'll go & figure out why my line of code didn't work...

;)

EDIT: OK, got it sorted! I've added WorldAeroData to the bottom of 'bot.htm', and modified the 'top.htm' to point at the notepad document rather than the 'draculaVR' online document which doesn't work anyway!
