How do you

Postby crazypotatos1 » Sun Nov 09, 2008 3:02 pm

I am really confused when I download planes from here.

They show the pictures and in the pictures they have the afterburner on or for other planes the doors open. The description never shows you which buttons you press to do anything.

I am asking, how do you do special things with military jets and cargo jets

Also, I see people that have the pictures of them on aircraft carriers. How do you get one of those and how do you get it into the game?

Hi. These things can vary. The default key commands for doors are;
Shift + E for the main exit.
Shift + E followed by number 1, 2, 3, or 4 for other exits. (That's the keyboard not the Num Pad)

If you give an example of one of the military jets you're having problems with  someone can download it & check it out for you. We need the file description & exact page it's posted on.

You can find all the default keyboard command in the "settings" when you start FS9.  Click on "Settings", then on the upper right there's a box entitled "Controls" with an "assignments" button.  Click on that and you can review what key on the deyboard does what.  It also shows your joystic button assignments.  From that page, you can aslo change your key and button assignments.

As far afterburner effects, that depends on the download.  Some have the effect "built in", adn the afterburner will "kick in" when your throttle is above a certain %, like +90%.  With others, they may have been added in, and you have to activate the effect by keyboard command, usually, "i" or "l", and you have to also make sure that you have the effects.  Many add=on's with such effects include an effects folder, and you have to transfer the contents of that folder into the main FS9 "effects" folder, also.

For aircraft carriers, you have to have a landable aircraft carrier somewhere.  I do not think FS9 comes with any, but I could be wrong.  Most likely, they were downloaded add-on scenery objects.  If they have an "airport ID", you should be able to select that from the "Select Location" on the "create a flight".  But just downloading *any* carrier will not work.  You have to make sure it's a "landable" carrier.  (But I think most of the carrier DLs have instructions to make them "landable" scenery objects, and probably either have an airport ID or places them near a coastal airport so you can fly to the carrier in a short time.)
