Re: Jerky motion from frame to frame...

[quote]For reasons unknown, FS9 has suddenly developed a jerky motion from frame-to-frame, even though the frame rate is set at 24. This lack of smooth transition also obtains in FS2002. Reinstalling FS9 has not corrected the problem. There is ample available RAM - 2 gigabytes - and prior to this unfortunate development the programs both ran perfectly smoothly.
Can someone suggest what might have brought this on - and a possible cure?
Many thanks for your assistance.

Many thanks for your always helpful and prompt responses. Addons? A few proprietary aircraft, some photo scenery of the British Isles (the South Eastern area) and a few France VFR sceneries of Normandy and Brittany Islands.
I'm afraid two gigabytes is the limit on my computer (already boosted from 1 gig). There is a possibility that the problem arises because of some upgrades recently installed for Arronis 11 and Skype - any addition to the system often derails some other program.
But what's puzzling is that the FS9 ran perfectly until a few weeks ago and even re-installing the program didn't cure the problem.

Sound like some background processes running and dragging your system down while you are running FS9. You mentioned adding some new programs, it's possible that they have added these additional processes, check your task manager and see if something is there that wasn't there before. If that doesn't help try doing some of the tweaks listed here: http://www.flightsimworld.com/forums/in ... opic=28865
These worked wonders for my FS9! ;)

Download EndItAll2. It's a freeware program that I use to shutdown all running processes before starting FS. Download link here.

To get back on topic, what videocard are you using?

Crash ;)

Once again, many thanks for your helpful and mind-expanding information. The videocard in my computer is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT.
I think the several suggestions you've all made will probably resolve the difficulty. I'll try to reduce the number of programs running in the background - even try some of the software mentioned in your replies.
Again, my thanks for such prompt and thorough assistance.

After following the excellent suggestions from you the FS9 now runs with extraordinary smoothness - controls are sensitive and particularly responsive.
