game reboots while flying

help----- when i start my 2004 game and fly for a bit it reboots. i just had to reformat my computer. i did not have any problems before that. i have the lastest update for it i think. i also have the crack in it to fly without the cd. I have an ati card 256 mg , radeon 9550. i have 2 gigs of ram. i also have an anthlon 64x2 3800 dual core processor. i have an msi sata board. it is absolutey enough to run this game almost perfectly. so if anyone has an idea as to meybe whats happening, i sure could use some help.

First, run it without the crack.....

Second, does this happen in all areas of the world, or just certain spots?

Third.....run it without the crack....

The surgeon general says crack is bad for you!
That would be the best place to start. But I've had a few incompatible addons cause this also. Try Sean's suggestion and let us know.

May also be a driver issue. (Rare, but it's happened to me.)

I must admit, I use a patch also, but never had a reboot problem until I started putting addons in the game, so unless it's a bad patch, it's probably an incompatible addon. I've got 2Gb of Ram and haven't had problems of that nature.

Memory is a good point too. Not the amount of it so much as the functionality. Download MEMTEST and let it run a few passes tonight, and see what you find.

Random (or seemingly random) restarts can be caused by any number of things.

Yeah, I would test the memory first thing.
It could also be overheating causing it, either the GFX card or CPU, or both. Normally though if it is the GFX card, games will lock up. If it's the cpu sometimes the app will crash, restart or windows will restart.
I don't know if the no-cd fix can be a problem or not. I have never had a problem with it.
Is there a log file for FS9 that will record what happened?
