Wierd things after installing FS9.1

Postby akka » Mon Sep 22, 2008 11:03 am

I upgraded my fs9 to 9.1 and wierd things started to happen to my addon sceneries. My Lago Monaco scenery start having trees floating in the sky and crash my Apache. My very nice HK scenery suddenly have the victoria harbour flashing like a Christmas tree. Then the coast line of my vancouver+ scencery suddenly becomes straight like a ruler not to mention Central Park disappeared from my Manhattan scenery. I have no time in trying to find out what other things went wrong with my 160+ addons. I just uninstall the upgrade. I read the readme on fs9.1 and they said that some addon may not work with the upgrade but it seems all addons doesn't work instead of just a few. Anybody has similar problem with moving from 9 to 9.1? >:( :o

Nope.  First of all..... are you SURE that tyour copy of the original FS2004 was not already version 9.1?  Anything than a VERY old copy woul already BE 9.1.

Second, did you follow the install instruction to the letter?

Third, are you running a modfied fs9.exe?

best,

Hi John

That was quick, a reply within 3 minutes. That is what I call real time response!!! ::) I will have to check if my fs9 is already in fs9.1 but if this were the case, then installing the upgrade should not affect my addons since it was working fine before the upgrade. Upgrading from 9.1 to 9.1 should not have changed anything theorectically right?

The installation is just a matter of clicking the installer. There is no special instructions that one really needs to follow.

I will go through your points and try to sort out what is causing the problem. ;D

Actually when you download the update you should load it into the main FS9 folder, then run the update from within the FS9 main folder

And why should that be done? I've installed my FS9 many times and also the update. I've got the update on a back-up dvd and install it from there. Never had any problems.

Crash ;)

Yes I agreed with Sircrashalot. The installer will automatically identify the fs9 folder and install the relevant files. ;D

Except that Microsoft said you should do this from within the fs9 directory for some reason.
