Can't play fs9 anymore.

Hi all, I installed a program addon to my fs9 install, and when i ran the game, the splash screen appears in the top half of the screen, then when it gets to the "create a flight" screen, my whole desktop just starts flashing all the icons, and the fs9 screen as well. I have to restart my comp to get the desktop working again as its completely stuck like that. This happened a while back, and i uninstalled the addon, but it didn''t fix things. So i reinstalled fs9, but its still the same. I've since gone onto fsx, but i want to play fs9 because i could play that at a much higher level of detail than i can fsx.
Anyone any ideas about this.? Some advice would be much appreciated.

Try restoring your system to a time before you added that bad software. If that doesn't help, delete all traces of fs9 material and reinstall

Poor Etienne My fs-9 was giving me problem where it would  go in the splashscreen and just stay there. I uninstalled and reinstalled fs-9 7 times! finnaly i got the stupid thing to work when i changed the folder it was to install into. I made it install into microsoft Games instead of fs9. Make a folder and install fs9 into it. Might work.
LOL im in FSX now too. Even though its slower than fs9 im getting  10 times the enjoyment and i have not had a single problem with it.

Have you updated your drivers for your video card? Any signs of this happening to any other program?

What is the program that started the problem?

Maybe it's uninstall left something behind that's got a hook on FS9.

I think it was a traffic addon. Like i say, its a while ago, and i have been using fsx. But i only really started using fsx cos i couldn't get fs9 to work. I'd much prefer to get back to fs9, i had great detail, and i have a lot of addons for it. When i click on the exe file to start the game, there is about an inch gap at the bottom of the screen where i can still see part of the desktop. (while the splash screen is too high up.) Then when the "create a flight" screen comes up, thats it. the whole screen starts flashing and i have to reboot..............hmmmm!!!

Did you try deleting fs9.cfg? This has been known to fix all sorts of weird problems.

If that doesn't do the trick uninstall FS9 once more. Then delete the Flight Simulator 9 folder & fs9.cfg before attempting to reinstall it. Make sure there's nothing left of your previous install.

Yep!! After months of playin fsx with rubbish detail, i can now put my high detail ones back in and play it maxed out........
