Excuse me butting in. I think you've done an amazing detective job Groundbound. I've been following this thread with interest & decided to try this for myself. What I can't figure out is where typhoon reheat got those CFG files from.

I downloaded the F-16 Thunderbird here http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military2.htm
& Bob Chicilo's update here http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military64.htm

I installed them in order overwriting files where necessary & also installed the XML gauges from the DSB Typhoon as Groundbound instructed. All works as advertised without modifying or editing anything even without the Eric Marciano panel. (If you do install this panel make sure to use Kirk Olsson's original Panel.cfg with it.)

The Typhoon references are from Kirk's readme in his original download. (USVIPER.ZIP)

I have just about all of the VIPER paints and variants installed, and is by far, my favorite model to modify. I too have met with some confusion in getting may of those "updates" and mods to work, so I know just what Mr. Reheat is going through.

Might I suggest he deletes the F-16 & starts again. It should be a lot easier to walk him through the basic install using the files I did. (See my previous reply.)

I need to start dinner actually, but here's what we'll do.

Reheat, download the T-bird Viper you want again, and post a link here so I can download it too. After the "Fam" is done with dinner, I'll jump back on and walk ya though it all step by step. Cool?

Yes. Use the original Panel.cfg included with the F-16 Thunderbird. http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military2.htm
Overwrite the existing file when prompted. It includes all the necessary entries & shouldn't need editing.

Do the same with the Aircraft.cfg & AIR file from the update. http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military64.htm

You shouldn't need it for now. Everything except the 2D panel will work without it installed. I'll have to download it again to see what's involved. Might be best to leave this to Groundbound. I don't want to interfere.

PS. If you install those two files correctly there's no need to edit anything.
