light config problems

Postby typhoon reheat » Tue Aug 19, 2008 8:34 am

hi i need help with my afterburner on my f-16 viper.
see i got the update for the f-16 viper but when i put the throttle up no afterburner works. but when you turn on all the lights the afterburner turns on and i dont like it that way because if you have your throttle at min and your lights on you have a afterburner and it shouldnt be like that you should be able to max your throttle with an afterburner coming on and off.
so i need to change something in my aircraft.cfg.

it tells you to replace the old light config with the new ones inside your aircraft.cfg folder so i done that but it's the same problem.

plz help it is really buggin me.

thnx ;)

Did you install the DSB Typhoon? The Viper uses not only the AB effects from it, but it's XML gauges too.

no i didnt install the DSB typhoon afterburner but it was the f-16 thunderbirds update it installs afterburner, wing vapour and engine exhaust smoke.

they all work but only if i turn on the lights and i dont want that to happen.
what i do want is the have the afterburner working only when i push the throttle up to max.

That might be the problem. The panel for the Viper is set up to use the XML gauges from the Typhoon, for automatic afterburner operation. (I don't think that was mantioned in the any of the read-me's) Try downloading the Typhoon again, and drop the gauges from the download, into your sim's gauges folder. Remember, XML gauges MUST be in thier own folder INSIDE the sim's gauges folder in order to work. (IE, inside the Typhoon download's gauges folder , are two more folders called "dsbxml" and "efa_gauges". These whole folders need to be moved to your sim's gauges folder.)

Give that a try and see if it works.

Shouldn't need the whole aricraft installed, just the gauges, since you're afterburner effects from a different download. (In fact, the folders I mentioned above SHOULD be the only gauges you need .)

The XML gauges are already in the folders they need to be in. Just move those folders from the download's gauges folder, to the sim's gauges folder.

Nope. Just as long as the effects that you want to use, are described in the lights scetion of the aicraft.cfg. What happens is the XML gauge, reads the engine's N1 rpm, and turns certain light type on or off, depending on that reading.
