I think it was a resolution problem. Well at lease you are happy. Keep your screen resolution for your destop and other applications to 1024 x32 too.

Once you have completed all the game settings to your satisfaction, they will be stored automatically for every time you re-load the Sim...;)...!

Tip: Have a peek at the max resolution allowed on your Monitor......
Right click on the Desktop > Properties > Settings....

Try the Max Res settings, and select the same settings in the FS 2004 Sim (Hardware > Resolution Option).
You may get some improved "Visuals"...;)...!

Mine is 1280 X 1024 X 32... Desktop and Sim...:)...!
