Your problem is that FS9 cannot function normally in Vista, just stick with your XP for FS9

I'm running on Vista, and haven't had a single problem.  Works perfectly. (Vista home permium 32 bit)

It's hard to say, since I only have experiance with Home Premium (previously, I was using Windows ME, but not with any flight sim game.. computer was too slow.)

How much memory does your system have?

How much memory does your system have?  You might try bottoming out all your settings just to see what happens.  If the sim doesn't crash, start increasing them one by one to a higher setting.

Why would it crash? :-?

Depends on his system.  It may be overloaded, processing wise, and get to a point where instead of a "slideshow", either the sim chokes or the computer chokes.

After all, he did say that the error message is "A problem occured with your program, and had to be closed".    But I would also hazard a guess that if his system can handle Vista, FS9 should be a walk in the park.

I found it!

I re-installed FS9.

The trick is to do a CUSTOM install, not express.
