Still got this darn stuttering in game

Postby coreservers » Tue Aug 05, 2008 5:01 am

As posted a few weeks ago, I have an issue with flight sim. a god example is this.
I take the flybe ERJ145 from prestwick airport. run up the runway take off and everything is none too bad. after a few moments however, the graphics "stutter" for 4 seconds every 10 seconds, sound remains fine, tried lowering sliders, switched off vertical sync. removed all processes, installed dedicated sound card as thought realtek ac97 drivers could casue this problem.
My only option left is to try and change the sound card latency. It's driving me mad.
Also happens in Rail simulator. but not in lost crown or medieval total war 2.

Anyone got any advice?

...core...

You are rather on the border-line with only 512 Mb of Ram for a Flight sim!... :o...!

I reckon your data is spooling off your Hard Drive as you fly, 'cos there's not enough room in your Ram... :'(...!

1 Mb is good.... ::)...

.....2 Mb is better... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

Paul...G-BPLF...loadsa Ram is Fab!... :-*...!

We discussed your problem about this in a previous Thread...

...did it never get sorted after all our suggestion?... ::)...!

...are you sure you haven't got another background program starting up every now and again...incoming E-Mail?....Virus checker, etc?

nah system is clean. i managed to sort it out for a short while but it's returned making me think it's the audio latency. I stopped all processes except the essential ones, removed part drivers. etc. Avast keeps the system very clean.

ooooh It drives me nuts. Even tried dusting the heatsinks vdown with an air blower

I've tried pausing the game and then visiting task manager to see if cpu bottlenecking, or what was running, but to no avail. new grpahics card i think

Try Start > Settings > Sound and Audio Devices > Audio > Advanced > Performance > Hardware Acceleration > None/Full....

...try reducing it....sometimes helps Latency/Stuttering problems...;)...!

If you suspect its Latency problems, install "Asio4all" Sound drivers...>>>

http://www.asio4all.com/

(We use them in our Music Studios to stop Latency Problems with Audio Sound Cards...;)...).

Fixed it.
Was monitoring the gpu temp. wondering if it was getting toasted. however I also noticed the side panel was basically just resting on  the pc case, not attached.
I'm aware certian Nvidia cards suffer from what they call a cold bug. I.E. they are too cold to work properly.
I fully refitted the sidepanel, and immediately the temp rose on the gpu and hey presto, no stutter. managed 3 large cycles round prestwick in the flybe ERJ145 without a twitch, getting a steady 27 fps.

Now to remember what settings I altered  ::) :-/
