New machine = I want better stuff :)

Postby Sooner266 » Sat Jul 26, 2008 7:03 pm

I just got a new computer.

3.6 Ghz AMD 6200+ Dual-Core Processor
4GB DDR2 running at 800 Mhz (capable of 1 Ghz)
FSB speed of 2 Ghz
8-)

the question  in my mind when deciding whether to download something for Flight Simulator 2004 has just gone from "is the lag/fun ratio good enough?" to, "what is the best i can get?"

So now i've gone on a mission to find all the best freeware stuff and put it on this machine.

If you know of ANY really high end Freeware stuff PLEASE tell me!
Especially upgrades to default stuff like effects or water.

The only thing limiting me is that I can't pay money for it, or the site to get to it, and it has to be FS2004 compatible.

Thanks!

well it all depends what you want to fly.there are many sites out there that will allow u to download something nice for free.this site for instance..there is also project opensky which i use.. theres fsplanet.theres avsim. The aircraft at project opensky are awsome.if you want a complete list of both pay ware and free ware go to www.fsinsider.com and click on community links im sure you will find anything you want there fsinsider will keep any simmer busy for a long time..also keep in mind you dont want to add too much to your system..as it sits you may get 15 to 35 maybe 40 frames a second if your lucky.. im on fs 2004 with 8 gigs of ram and get 85 to 100 fps with everything turned up but still limet what i put on the system so that i dont bring that frame rate down... so find sometning nice for your new computer and enjoy..happy landings regards[quote]I just got a new computer.

There are so many good add-ons available that it would take forever and a day to list them. I personally use the "weight" method for picking add-ons to try. If it's a large download, it's stands to reason it will be pretty comprehensive. (MB=DETAIL) Of course, this isn't always the case, but I've found it to be true in more cases than not.

Good "stuff" is good, bad "stuff" is bad.
In between there is acceptable "stuff".

"Stuff" is like "Fluff". You can never tell if its good "stuff" of bad "stuff" until you "stuff" it somewhere... :o...!

I have lots of "stuff" in my computer, 'cos half the time I cant remember the proper names for it...
I wish I did, then I wouldn't keep calling it "stuff"... :'(...!

Paul....STUFU STUFME.... :o.... ;D... ;D... ;D...!

...sorry Sooner....far too much "stuff" to cope with!... ;D...!

...all in fun... ;)...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

What video card are you using? Really good graphics (my particular quest in life) begin with a good card. Ask the guys here for some suggestions based on what other components you have in your system now.
