Great addition, thanks GB1!

One small wrinkle that I've noticed: if you have the autogen setting at 'dense' or greater, you tend to get icebergs poking out of the ground in unusual places! 'Normal' is fine though.

That is weird. I run mine at the highest setting possible, and I haven't seen anything like that yet. (I use the 70M SRTM mesh though, maybe that's why I don't see it on mine) I wouldn't think .agn files could do anything like that. :-/

Serpently.

Here's 'normal' autogen setting at Manchester EGCC, gate 29:

... and here's 'extremely dense' taken seconds later:

Watch out, Titanic!

No risk actually: even at 'normal' it's worth it for the better trees. This must be the exception rather than the rule because there was no sign of any at Phoenix...

Ok, I see now that you meant ACTUAL icebergs.

Not that I know of; I haven't put any other sceneries in for months.

thats really wierd.... I did the add-on trees like groundbound had posted with autogen on max and have not had any problems like that....only thing i have happen is a lower framerate which is what i was expecting to happen. My shots that i have posted in the freeware section in the past week have the tweak.

Hi again

I added the trees doing as Groundbound posted and everything is fine here too. Autogen on fullest, actually everything is on it's highest settings. I haven't seen anything strange and I'm very pleased with the new trees.

Sorry I can't offer any suggestions about the iceburgs showing up. I just wanted to post to let others know it is working fine for me.

I also tried the autogen 'extremely dense' setting with my default pre-silverwings set-up, and there's no sign of icebergs...

Maybe it's just an issue with the EGCC area, and I managed to hit it? (Didn't think they had icebergs in Manchester - not the last time I was there anyway!) Can somebody else try it to see if it's an issue for them? EGCC, gate 29.

Not that this will stop me using the silver wings update - the trees are much better like this. It'll be fun to see if I come across any others.

I tried it both ways, no 'bergs here. I did a little searching, and the only addons that I could find that even mentiond icebergs, were for EZ-Scenery. Do you have it, or any of the libraries it uses installed?

I'm pretty thoroughly stumped at this point. The only thing I can think of to narrow down the problem, would be to restore your backed up files, then add the SW .agn files one at a time to find the offender.

Groundbound,

It's OK - if Manchester is the only place it happens, then the improvement in the trees is worth it; still haven't seen them anywhere else. I don't think I can face going through all three-hundred-odd .agn files on a trial and error basis!

I just did a routine Gatwick/Manchester run in an Easyjet 737-700, and the ice didn't appear until I was pretty much on finals.

And no, I don't have EZ Scenery or any libraries for it installed - thanks for the suggestion though.

@microlight
I have the same problem as you at Manchester Airport.
These 'icebergs' you are seeing are new buildings created in the form of Churches.
In your Autogen folder, rename your default.xml to default.xml.bak
Now copy SilverWings default.xml from their Autogen folder into your Autogen folder and it will fix the problem.

Joe! Thank you very much for your help - the problem is now fixed! I'd started thinking that it might be a latitude thing.

GB - thanks for researching this in the first place - it's certainly a great addition and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Cheers,
Martyn

I wanted to add some more trees to flight sim because I fly low most of the time.  Usually i fly GA aircraft so I thought the more trees would make the game more realistic.  I followed the instructions you posted but as i checked out many airports it seems nothing has happened?  Actually it seems some of my autogen is missing.  My game looks really flat now as there is nothing.  Here is a screenshot that shows just a few trees.  I'm not sure if anything went wrong?  The only scenery add-ons i have is Ground Environment Pro, Flight Scenery: Portland, and the new freeware Creuse 2008.
