Virus in Easy Installer?

Postby medicman44 » Sat May 24, 2008 5:17 pm

I just downloaded Easy Installer and while I was installing the zip file, I was alerted to a trojan horse virus (Win32:Banload-EKK). I get really nervous when it comes to viruses, but I am not sure if this is a valid virus or not. Has anyone else run across this or is my anti-virus software to sensitive? Any and all help is appreciated.

I don't have Easy Installer but if you "Google" Banload-EKK there are lots of hits which may be able to help you. Check it out.

Thanks Zaphod. Glad to be here. I did finally go to google and found that this is a trojan horse downloader virus. I downloaded the easy installer from this site and that is why I wanted to let the forum know that there could be an issue. I normally scan right after I download but forgot to this time Then my anti virus caught it during install. It very well may be a false notification, but wanted to let the moderators know. Again, thanks and I really am enjoying this. I am still a novice to adding on to my liveries. And I hope I can learn many things from one and all. 8-)

Hi,
Can you be specific about what file exactly please?
I just checked out the 'Easy Installer' http://www.simviation.com/fs2004utilities2.htm and it scanned clean (AVG)

It would be very unusual to have a virus in any file here (2 in 10 yrs) but if one was found action would immediately be taken.

Also we are usually notified within hours of posting if any file has a problem - unless it is a particularly unpopular file - such as a small lithuanian airfield for fs98 .....  :)

People just get too excited when they get that notice of a possible "virus".
most of the time this will happen after a fresh anti-virus update, it will start throwing false positives at you. if you check your a/v programs forum, you'll probably find someone else has discovered the problem and a new update will fix it. it's usually best to check your a/v site first before spreading the word about a new virus.
