POSKY A330-200 question

Postby wolfipilot » Mon May 05, 2008 3:56 pm

Hi all -

I downloaded the A330-200 + Swiss texture and here is my problem: at Vr the aircraft simply is not rotating at all. I have only 50% fuel and all wight limits are more than respected; flaps as proposed. Even with my joystick pulled all way backwards nothing happens. So the aircraft accelerates up to 190 KIAS or more and than of course crashes at the end of the RWY.

Here is a extract of the aircraft.cfg which seems to be essential:

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar     =1.000
parasite_drag_scalar   =1.500
induced_drag_scalar    =1.300
elevator_effectiveness =1.200
aileron_effectiveness  =1.500
rudder_effectiveness   =2.500
pitch_stability        =1.500
roll_stability         =1.000
yaw_stability          =1.000
elevator_trim_effectiveness =1.000
aileron_trim_effectiveness  =1.000
rudder_trim_effectiveness   =1.000

Any suggestion? With my 737 also from POSKY I don't have that problem at all.

Hi.

I haven't got the -200 but I just took off in the Posky A330-300 with a full load, and she rotated pretty much where she should have. Try adding a couple of degrees of elevator trim, which will assist. (Same for the 737s).

Microlight - thanks for that.

However, I posted the same question at the Posky forum and they told me something about "folded wings" ...

Sorry you got no joy at the Posky forum. I downloaded the -200 (really complicated - four separate downloads plus work to put them together) and it rotates exactly as it should on my PC - with no elevator trim adjustment necessary.

I also tried it with the wings folded, and the nose lifted even though the main wheels stayed on the ground. Did you see this? If the nosewheel stayed on the ground as well, then I don't know what the issue is. With an installation as complicated as this, the potential for error is of course greater.

One way of preventing the wingfold issue (if this is what the problem is) is to remove the folding wings section from the aircraft.cfg file. You can find it yourself - I'm not going to post it here as the Posky folks seem to be inordinately sensitive to parts of their aircraft.cfg file being posted. (Can't see the sense of this actually - you can download them freely from their website!)

... I finally got it - made a complete new download and re-installed the A330-300 and -200; I dont know why, but now it works. Just finished a nice first flight from Istanbul to Zurich.

However - the support by Posky is not even poor. It's just strange ...  :-/

Thanx for ur support here  ;) ...

This aircraft .cfg does indeed have provision for folding the wings (why I can't imagine) and if you had accidentally pressed your wingfold key it would act like the wings were folded even if they weren't.....I also just tested that theory out by the way..........a NEW download would give you the original default situation of "Wings unfolded" ..so check out your assignment for wingfold and keep it OFF or just do as Microlight suggests........commoner ;D

I have had many aircraft do the same thing after downloading them.  Sometimes I just think it is a corrupted file or something.

As for POSKY, I love their aircraft, but a little too much attitude in their forum if you ask me.  They don't like questions, about anything.

Its not just me that finds them a pain to install, usualy ending up with sixteen entrys in my hangar instead of one with the variants under that heading ;D

I must have 5 different 757's all over the place, although ive now took the ones i like and lumped them together, altering cfg's and goodness knows what :(

Ive read through the forums now and then, and it does seem that the attitude is 'IT WORKS IT MUST BE YOU GOODBYE' ;D and the 'this is what we is working on next' threads and the replies always make me laugh ;D

But hey the aircraft are usualy excellent, so they can do what the heck they like on their forums, and i usualy figure out the install in the end!

I just recently actually got to fly my first Posky AC, someone finally bundled up one of there planes 'the A340' as a complete package with a functioning VC. It wasnt bad  ;) however I was a bit disappointed that nothing was clickable in the VC leaving me having to switch back and forth constantly between 2d and 3d  ::) Are all there VC's like that? and does anyone know of a version of their A320 (with a VC) that is useable in one download without me having to spend hours of my time trying to get it function?
