Eric Marchiano's F-16 Panel in use on USVIPER

Postby Boomervet » Mon Apr 21, 2008 1:59 pm

Can anyone tell me, why I cannot display any SimIcon_ATC, Map, Kneeboard or GPS Icon on this panel. It displays the 737 radio stack Panel Icon fine. I can move this icon around. I can manipulate and adjust/redesign the rest of the panel, in terms of switch positions, and features. and I can change, redesign the Panel .bmp files. I cannot add these Icons above though. All other panel functions, and flight dynamics, and controls work normally. Just wanted to add these features to aircraft.
here is my panel.cfg contents.

Have you verified that the 'SimIcons.cab' file is in your 'Gauges' folder?

Yep, I use the same SimIcons files for all my aircraft. Over 100 of them in Aircraft file. I copied the Cessna 172 SimIcons cab from the Cessna 172..and it does the same thing.....None of these ATC, MAP, Kneeboard or GPS display. Only one which displays is that Avionics Icon, and I can move it anywhere on panel. SO I know they are capable of being displayed...and moved.

Hi Boomer...can't see what is wrong there.......I have just downloaded the USVIPER and the panel and it displays the icons just fine apart from the GPS one which is not included but which I added in the usual way.

I also substituted the list from your post for the downloaded one just to try it out and this also displayed the icons ..........

...can only suggest you re-download the whole thing from here on SimV and try again..........commoner ;)

I can confirm that. Also note that the SIZE_X & SIZE_Y entries need adding to the CFG.

This suggests that Dave is correct & your SimIcons gauge is either missing or corrupt.

PS. The GPS icon displays fine. The GPS window is missing.

Hagar, Boomer,

RE: the gps window not opening from the simicon gps icon

From Boomer's posted 'panel.cfg':
*************************
[Window05]
Background_color=16,16,16
size_mm=150,250
position=2
visible=0
ident=31 <--------------change to =GPS_PANEL and it will open with the simicon gps icon.

Thanks all, for reply's. I will try those things. I Guess what is throwing me is I am using the same SimIcons files as the rest of my aircraft. Even transfered the same SimIcons from the Cessna 172 folder, and they do not display. every other aircraft in my folder works fine. with all of these SimIcons. ATC Map and Kneeboard. Weird. will try again. thanks much

Boomer,

For what it's worth, I have now installed the Viper, and the fullf16pnl.

Dave, and others....Yes...all I did is copy the SimIcons_ATC....and so on from the Panel of the 172, over to the F-16's Panel. to see if it would work there. and adjusted the Gauge Statement for the proper coordinates for the F-16.
In any case...My thinking was..if it works for the other aircraft...why...thereby saying the SimIcons in the Gauge folder...was intact..why would it not work for the F-16. I ended up deleting the VIPER folder from my aircraft folder completely....downloaded the entire aircraft again.....and then the Icons on the panel showed up..
Just for grins I tried the same Panel.cfg file again....and it worked fine. So something was corrupt in the VIPER folder....I have no Idea what. But in any case it is working just fine now.
I appreciate help and comments from all..
