FS 2004.... will it run on VISTA?

Postby Sochi_Jon » Sun Mar 30, 2008 10:17 am

I used to have this when I lived in Sochi Russia.. it kept me entertained pretty well. I am curious if this program will run good on Windows Vista. I have thought about buying X, but I read it has so many issues... I am not sure how good my system is... so maybe 2004 will be les of a problem?

Anyone use 2004 on Vista?

Thanks guys... this is my first post after just finding this site! Cool site too!

Yep, I'm doing so. I've Vista Home Premium,
and FS works problemless - in fullscreen.
In window mode, the screen sometimes seems to freeze, and I need to change the view from the menu, and then i works again.
But in fullscreen: No errors, perfect!

FS9 runs just fine on Vista here. I always use full screen mode so don't know if there are any issues at other screen settings. I have FSX also and use it very rarely - I like FS 9 better.

In Vista (HP 32bit) if you are in fullscreen mode on the menu screen and you Minimize FS9 you will not be able to bring FS9 back up. :)

I am running Windows Vista Premium with FS9 with many add-ons in full screen mode and i experience no problems whatsoever. (Maybe wrong spelling  ;D). Im only running a 256Mb Ati Radeon HD 2600 XT, not the best but vista and the card work together well to make my FS9 great. Thanks hope thats some help to you.

heh just installed vista on my system last night. insalled fs9 and I already have a problem. Take a look:

Image

The airplane model looks distorted. If I go ahead and fly, this distortion occurs with the scenery as well. It only does this if I run in fullscreen mode. Windowed mode, everythings fine. Don't know whats going on but for me, FS9 doesn't run correctly with Vista.

Try running as admin (even if you are the admin, right click on the FS9.exe, run as admin. See if that helps...install the patch for FS9, install Vista SP1, if all fails, do a clean install of FS9.

PS, upload all images on the SimV server here...
