An interesting side note about 2004

Postby Sochi_Jon » Sun Mar 30, 2008 3:15 pm

I am amazed at how so many airports are included in this program!! I lived in Sochi Russia for a couple years and when I was there, I was playing on 2004... and was shocked to find their little airports and other features were all there..... but.. what REALLY shocked me was this... in MT where I hunt.. there is a rancher who has his own plane.. we see him flying over (yeah, checking his cows? Not! Checking for DEER) when we are hunting nearby... anyway, he has a grass strip that happens to be on the Nav Charts and I was shocked to see his little landing strip on 2004!!!  Microsoft REALLY did it up didn't they? Wow..... cool stuff!

Yes, they have quite a few airports available, at least in North America and Europe. I know that they are apparently missing a fair amount in some Asian locations, but overall, they have covered the earth very well!

Here is a directory that lists all freeware addon FS2004 airports and scenery by country:

There's one out west of Hawaii they may not have. It's at 16 deg, 43' 42.64 N x 169 deg, 32' 04.18 W. Look at it on Google Earth...

It's Johnson (or Johnston) Atoll...
